In case you didn't know (I figured someone would have mentioned it by now), rabidly anti-gay Alan Keyes' daughter is Maya is a lesbian anarchist (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, etc).
He's hardly the first in such a situation. In fact, I have personal experience with this sort of thing. My uncle was a US congressman from Indiana - one of the most anti-gay out there. Not only am I, his niece, bi, but he set off everyone who I introduced to him's "gaydar", so to speak. I and my friends weren't the only ones; I once ran into an article online titled something to the effect of "The two closetted gay congressmen are the worst", referring to my uncle and one other person. My uncle actually had his secretary record his home answering machine message, saying "We're not here right now..." (and several other things) so that people wouldn't think he was gay.
Doesn't this sort of thing strike anyone else as odd? Keyes is just an especially bad case, as he recently called Mary Cheney a selfish hedonist, and stated that she was living in sin.

Oh, also, I found a rather interesting page on my own, searching through google caches:
http://64.233.167.104/...
Family values indeed. Shoplifting? Fistfights? Trying to kill both herself and someone else? Setting herself on fire? Wow...
There's a lot of interesting stuff out there... she's had a very active blog life, and taken part in a lot of other people's blogs (and lots of people link her). For example over here she wins a contest to guess how many cans of coke fit around someone's breasts:

We probably haven't mentioned it because Alan Keyes is a frikkin' joke. Obama's going to stomp his ass so hard into the dirt, the only place he'll be able to run for office is the Kingdom of the Mole People.
And even the Mole People will call him out for saying Hillary shouldn't run in New York.

And it's probably off-topic, but the Keyes/Obama business (I don't mean that to look like I'm referring to slash fiction, but it probably does) puts me in mind of the hard swing to the left Illinois has taken in the last couple years... and the warm fuzzy feeling it gives me inside...
But on topic... the idea of Republican candidates being great big thumping hypocrites when it comes to "family values" isn't limited to homosexuality. Anyone remember why Newt Gingrich stepped down?

Would it be possible to get the links hidden so I can catch those margins streaming off to my right?

Do you remember Morton Downey Jr. the talk show host? He was anti-everything and was a frothing at the mouth anti-gay activist. He brings his gay brother on the show and suddenly it is ok that his brother is gay because "Morton" loves him. I find this one of the most troubling aspects of conservatives, the hypocrisy. It is hardly different from the people who claim that they love America for its freedom while pushing the Patriot Act and claiming one must give up freedom to support..well to support um, freedom.

I also find it strange that the conservatives have always pride themselves in leaning toward the social version of "laissez faire," where the government is suppose to stay out of people's lives, yet they are trying so hard to push through a law that specifically targets a minority group of people. It's interesting how people are keeping quiet even though this is a clear hypocrisy on the side of the conservatives.

It has been noted that those who are the most virulently homophobic are often gay, themselves. They hate the fact that they are gay and massively overcompensate.
The way this was studied was with a sample of men who claimed to be straight who were asked to rate themselves with regard to homophobia. A monitor was then placed on the penis and they were shown male homoerotic imagery.
The men who self-described themselves as most homophobic were more likely to experience erections while watching the male-male porn than those straight men who did not consider themselves homophobic.
As the cliche goes, the lady doth protest too much.

This would explain why I had such a hate attitude toward gay people when I was in high school.

For goodness's sake, please vote Democrat this November!
Why? Bush is a right wing nutcase.

Senate candidate chides staffer for e-mail
From Salon.com
quote:
Sept. 28, 2004 | Columbia, S.C. -- A Republican Senate candidate in South Carolina has reprimanded a campaign staffer for a derogatory comment she made about lesbians in an e-mail.
Ginny Allen, director of operations for Rep. Jim DeMint's campaign, accidentally sent the e-mail to Lisa Hall, chairwoman of a local gay advocacy group, after Hall invited DeMint to attend a town hall meeting on gay issues.
Apparently thinking she was forwarding the e-mail to someone within the campaign, Allen wrote: "come on farg give this dike a reply." The word "farg" was a shorthand reference to the last name of the person Allen intended to receive the e-mail, campaign director Terry Sullivan said Tuesday.
Isn't it about time we stopped pretending that Republicans had the experience, training, intelligence, and desire to take politics seriously?
