Not in Minnesota
We've been having some record low temperatures. A little earlier this month (IIRC) it hit 22 degrees F at one location. Here near the north shore of Lake Superior, I think we've only been getting down to the high 30's. Been running the heat some, which is most unusual for the heart of summer.
Friends reported briefly seeing snow fall, up in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.

Plenty warm in Columbia, MO - rainy today, though.
The Moose will be glad to hear, I suppose, that I no longer pollute his state with my objectionable presence.

It gets ridiculously hot where I live. It's been fairly pleasant lately but that'll change when summer comes.
The hottest day on record in my city was a few years back now but I remember it well. It was a fairly dry heat but back then we didn't have any air conditioning in the house, so boy did we suffer!
I'm not sure of the exact measurement but I remember the news reporting that it had reached something on the order of 48 or 49° Celsius. For the Americans, that's about 120° Fahrenheit.
Actually, I saw something strange that day and it's never occurred to me to ask about it here.
Under the house (the "garage" I suppose; the car, piles of junk, etc) that day, we found the largest congregation of flies I've ever seen. And I'm not kidding; I didn't know there were that many flies in Australia!
They were like a blanket. They covered everything so thickly you couldn't see a surface anywhere. They were pressed wing-to-wing and if you put your hand down anywhere, they exploded into a thick cloud in all directions. I've honestly never seen anything like it.
So as obvious as the answer may seem, I just want to clear it up; why? Do flies just seek shade in extreme heat? It seems obvious but the reason I ask is because we've had hot days before (not as hot as that one, but close) and I'd never seen anything like that. Never seen it since, either.

Out of curiousity where do you live in Australia? My g/f and I are making our way from Canada to Cairns, then maybe Brisbane. Staying for about 7 months as a working vacation.

Re: Cold
We're pretty close, definitely long sleeve weather and heavy coat. Dropping down to 13 o C tonight with a high only getting to 18 o C tomorrow.

Added by edit: The official Duluth, MN temperature right now is -1 F. This time of the year though, it is warmer by Lake Superior (which I am). That will be lost when LS freezes over (more or less). That is still quite a ways away.
Second edit: The record high for the date is 55 F, 12 C.
The record low for the date is -20 F, -28 C.
A number of years back I was living in an old farm house in the Billings, Montanta area. Overnight low hit -40. As I was heating with wood (in short supply) my morning inside temperature wass 32 F.
The previous winter there, it hit -50 F (I'm told). I was living in a warmer house at the time - All I knew was that my car didn't have a prayer of starting (didn't have the engine heater plugged in).
We really had some wild temperature swings there. I would guess that the some winter monthly high-low extremes might have as much as 100 degrees F between them.

Hah!
I wish I'd seen this thread back in August, when it was still easily breaking 120 every day at Balad, and I coulda laughed at the silly Texans and their delusions of toughness (j/k, Jar!)
Lately, it's been a high in the 50s and a low in the 30s. The whole country froze overnight (barely) a couple of times last week, but this week has warmed up a little.
Mississippi is about the same, from what I hear, but more humid.
