As I sit here with a rather large glass of 21 year old Dalmore malt, I was thinking that it would be nice to share a glass or two with some of the EvC forum members some time in the future.
So I was wondering what your favourite drink would be, on a social occassion of course, none of the tea and coffee nonsense.
Brian.

I'm a whiskey man when I can afford the good stuff. Gin and tonic when I can't. (Which is more often.)

You should drink the stuff without the 'e', that Irish stuff will drive you mad
Gin and tonic, isn't that a ladies drink?

It's only fair. The Irish girls drive me mad, so the drinks I down while seeking them should do the same. I think it's the red hair and the accent.

Not the way I mix 'em.

Islay Man
I'm partial to Laphraoig, myself. But if I'm standing at Edinburgh's Bow Bar, a wee dram of Lagavulin will dae.

That depends entirely on how long it's been since my last breakup.

Re: Islay Man
HI,
Lagavulin is one of my favs, I haven't tasted a peatier whisky, maybe a wee bit too peaty for some folk.
I gave my sister a wee nip of it one day, LOL three days later she could still tate the smoke in her mouth!
Ah Lagavulin, it's rare.
Brian.
PS. I hope you don't frequent the Bow Bar

No kidding
It's also one of my favourites - possibly my all time fave. A few years ago my regular haunt got a bottle in by accident (apparently they ordered Laphroaig and got the Lagavulin delivered by mistake - I was heartbroken ). A couple of the barmaids - young lasses who hadn't ever drunk any single malt before - commented on the aroma so I treated them to a shot each. "It tastes like snails !" was the only printable comment...
...but they still both finished it.

Sad, but true
When in extremis, a Highland or Island single malt will do nicely. Favs tend to be Laphroaig, Lagavulin or Bunnahabhain. Sadly I tend to be totally non-drinking because of the effect it has on me. Something to do with tissue type, means I have trouble metabolising alcohol so after one single drink I end up roaring drunk for two days and have a five day hangover. Even Ribena tends to be a bit strong for me!

Re: Islay Man
Brian,
I actually prefer Laphraoig because it's a better balanced malt, whereas Lagavulin is so overpoweringly salty and dry that you really have to be in the mood for it.
So the Bow Bar has a bad rep? Or do I?
regards,
Esteban Hambre

Pour me a vanilla coke and some Parrot Bay.
And if you make fun of me for drinking sissy girly drinks, I'll chop off your hands.
