In the United States, most Christians say that they observe Sunday, the first day of the week, at least in part, to commemorate the resurrection which they believe took place on the first day of the week. Does anyone know, in those areas of Europe that use a calendar that labels the seventh day of the week, “Sunday”, on what day they hold their weekly worship services? If they hold it on the seventh day, do they reject the first day as being a special day?

unless I'm mistaken, that whole sunday thing has to deal with the sabbath--you know, the day god stopped working because he was finished with his creation (that is, the first genesis creation myth).
I don't think it has a thing to do with Christ's resurrection.

They hold them at Sunday. At least in here and at the other Nordic countries.
I don't think anyone even thinks about "rejecting the first day as being a special day", because very few even know why the weekly worship is at Sunday.

Yom Shabath is Saturday -- actually, Friday sundown to Saturday sundown, since the day starts at sundown. So Sunday is being treated as if it were the Sabbath, but it's being observed on a different day.
No clear reason for the shift from the Sabbath to the Sun's Day. The assimilation of pagan traditions as the new religion spread was doubtless an influence, for the same reason that Christian tradition attached Christmas to the Winter Solstice. OP's suggestion that it was to commemorate the day of the Resurrection could be another.

What day is first has nothing to do with calendars
Yes, the Tradition of Sunday as a day or worship for many Christians is based on the day of resurrection. It is not based on a belief though that the resurrection took place on some first day, but rather on the fact that the story has it happening the day after the Sabbath.
It would be more accurate to say that many Christians feel that Jesus resurrection began things and so is a new beginning each week.
How a Calendar is arranged is a business and aesthetic decision, and is up to the individual. Sunday is still Sunday, regardless of where you start some arbitrary calendar. Look at the Yahoo Calendar application which is pretty typical.
I can start the week on any day I choose.
Calendars are arbitrary creations of man.

Neutralmind,
re: “They hold them at Sunday. At least in here and at the other Nordic countries.”
But is Sunday the seventh day or the first day on your calendar?

The Finnish calendar I'm looking at has Sunday in red and at the end of the week.

None, sorry. I've spent a total of about four days in Europe.
