There is an article in today's Live Science relating to things that can lead to isolation of a species, or perhaps work towards removing that barrier. On Penguins and their evolution as independant species

The result is what scientist call microevolution.
...as quoted from the link.
I've been told here that 'macro' and 'micro' evolution don't exist and that it is just BS made up by creationists.
Can people finally stop using that argument?

Re: The result is what scientist call microevolution.
Tell the author. But it is a term used by others than simply creationists. Macro is the sum of many micro.

What I meant was:
Can people stop saying that scientists don't use the terms micro and macro...because they do. It was in my biology book in college. Still though, I've received arguments on this board that those terms are not used by scientists and that creationists made them up.

You misunderstood us.
We never said that scientists don't use the terms, because they do. What we said was that scientists use the terms differently than what creationists and non-scientists think what those terms mean.
It's like saying x=y and then proceed in the conversation sometimes using x and sometimes using why. If we look back at the givens, we'd see that x is really y, but most people don't pay attention to this. They think that x != y.
The terms micro and macro evolution are used for descriptions rather than two different things. It's like walking to your friend's place and walking to another town. They're both walking, but one describes walking to your friend's house and the other walking to another town.
