I'm no expert, but my wife is currently in the biochemistry section of her graduate degree in biology so I might be able to help out in answering the topic.
It's not as esoteric as it appears; the answer involves amino-acid "handedness", which relates to common descent and abiogenesis.
I second the motion, its an interesting topic and certainly relevant to evolution although not perhaps strictly material to the EvC debate, although on second thoughts many creationists try and use chirality as an argument against abiogenesis.
