Can someone tell me why beliefs such as the christian, muslem, budist, etc. etc. are not called myths (or mythology) or why Greek mythology is not called a religion? And why were these more life like gods dismissed as real gods? Could it be because they were a little too human?

I call 'em all mythology.

Function, Currency and Convention.
I am quite sure that the Greeks did not call their stories of Gods Myth but rather Religion.

I've always thought that if a supernatural belief is currently in common practice by many people, it is a religion.
If it has fallen out of favor and use, and no one (or very few) really has faith in it anymore, it is now a myth.
Myth is obsolete or historical religion.

Myths/Religion?
Thanks everyone. I was just curious if others saw it the same as me. I must say I could much sooner believe in the possibility that there was a group of superior beings here at one time than believe in some invisible Great Omnipotent Diety that no one has ever seen.
