Re: The Lady Dost Protest Too Much
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you've had no less than 4 homosexual encounters over those three year.

Unless my wife is really a man, that limb your on is dead, and just broke, and now you are on your ass.

It would make no sense for me to not understand why people are homosexual, and be one myself.

As I have pointed out, I have had bad experiences with gay people in the past, and they have used their homosexuality against me.

The reason I brought that up, was to point out to taz, that I do not hold it against them. In my mind, I separate the fact that they were gay, and the fact that they used their homosexuality against me, and the fact that they are just screwd up in the head. Not because they are gay.

Of course this is not the norm with gay, or any other kind of person.

I have started threads on homosexuality, because I do not want to be a bigot, or be known as a hater, or anything else nasty sounding like that. I want to explore the reasons why, I think it is wrong (the act of homosexual sex). Not because underneath it all, I hate gay PEOPLE.

I know this is a difficult concept for most of you to grasp, but it is the truth.

What I am tired of, is now on any other thread, that does not include the "gay" concept, somehow it always gets brought into it, not by me, by other people.

As if to say, because I do not like the idea of gay or lesbian sex, that all of my ideas are for shit. I am a bigot, therefor I cannot possibly have on rational thought. To top that off, I am a "Christian." So basically, anything I say is garbage.

Meanwhile, all I have been is honest, and I have realized along the way, that being against same sex marriage in our government, is to be a hypocrite, and go against my very own freedom, so I have had a change of ways.

Some people are born gay, or hating the color pink. I was born disliking the act of homosexual sex. I cannot change that, just like "gay people cannot help themselves from being gay" although I am trying to come to terms with it. Especially if it is hurting other people, the last thing on earth I want to do.

Your accusation of me having no less than 4 homosexual encounters over this, shows your immaturity, and is an epitome of just what I am saying. It is extremely immature of you to say something like that, and to me, you appear to be along the same intellect level as a gay basher, and a bigot.

It is one more notch towards me leaving this forum, until things can change.

If people around here want tolerance from me, over homosexual sex, then they better start with themselves, and show me how to be tolerant towards others. So far, I have seen nothing but hatred, from you and many others.

Re: The Lady Dost Protest Too Much
It would make no sense for me to not understand why people are homosexual, and be one myself.

Open you eyes. The VAST majority of anti-gay pundits are themselves homosexual. It's become a cliche. Haggard is just the most famous recent example. Oh, wait, he's not gay, right? He just had gay sex. Now that's he's prayed about it, he's "cured".

As for the idea that you are somehow not a bigot because you don't "like gay people", you are grossly misunderstanding even your own position.

Perhaps this will clarify:
I know that BLACK people are born BLACK. But, I don't like BLACK people because they have used their BLACKNESS against me in the past. I am not a bigot just because I don't like BLACK people. If they would just stop being BLACK we wouldn't have a problem.

[ qs] I was born disliking the act of homosexual sex.[/qs]

Here's another gross misunderstanding on your part.

No one is asking you to like homosexual sex. I, too, was born disliking the idea of homosexual sex - hence I don't engage in it. But then again, I was born disliking peas, and I don't eat them.

It's not a problem for you to not want to participate in homosexual sex (though the 4 year span of your argument seriously makes us think that you in fact do want to).

The problem is when you impose that desire on other people..

It's not wrong for me to not eat peas. It is wrong for me to ammend the Constitution to prevent others from eatting peas.

Further, it's RIDICULOUS for me to claim that some passage in a 2000 year old book justifies my desire to prevent others from eatting peas.

Re: The Lady Dost Protest Too Much
I know that BLACK people are born BLACK. But, I don't like BLACK people because they have used their BLACKNESS against me in the past.

Please explain what "blackness" is.

I am not a bigot just because I don't like BLACK people. If they would just stop being BLACK we wouldn't have a problem.

This does not represent my position at all, so you can drop it now.

The problem is when you impose that desire on other people..

Such as when?

I've clearly stated the opposite, so I will just have to confirm, that you don't know what you are talking about.

And if I was to be like you, since you couldn't get that, then everything else you say, must be incorrect also.

I am done here, unless you want to start another thread, or debate about it.

Hi Riv,

This isn't a discussion thread. It is a "short question" thread. You ask your question ("Who's buried in Grant's tomb?"), get your answer ("Grant!"), state your appreciation ("Gee, thanks!"), then you're done.

Here's a short question.

Why would you post that, even though I stated I was done here, and desired to continue it elsewhere, and single me out?

Look riVeRraT, if you are going to leave then just leave. Don't keep reappearing and reminding us how we failed to perceive your singular and unique greatness.

Shit or get off the pot.

Re: The Lady Dost Protest Too Much
Hi Riv,

This is a short questions thread, as has been pointed out a few times now. In the future, please use this thread in the manner it was intended. For now, I'm removing your permissions in the Suggestions and Questions forum. You may petition for restoration of these permissions by sending email to Admin, though restoration is at the discretion of board administration.

Normally I would advise you to take your issues to the General Discussion Of Moderation Procedures 11.0 thread, but that avenue is no longer open to you, plus there's already been too much unconstructive discussion about this there anyway, so I suggest you open a thread in the Coffee House forum if you'd like to pursue this. Rrhain has been given the identical restriction, and this avenue was suggested to him, also.

Science Blogs
The Science Blogs icon has added itself to my EvC bookmark. Is this a just a malfunction on my computer, or is EvC becoming part of Science Blogs?

Re: Science Blogs
I think it's your computer. It's not exactly likely (this isn't a blog for a start) and there's been nothing said.

Thanks for the reply. I switch back and forth between EvC and ScienceBlogs frequently and apparently my computer has become confused. It couldn't possibly be my fault.

This happened to me - I think it's a just a bug in firefox. It's been like that for a year now. Haven't tried to get rid of it, and I've just got used to it :p

Re: format change?
I noticed that a new proposed topic does not appear by a simple search of a members topic list. Is this a new feature? Or is this just some temporary feature connected to the site being down temporarily?
