On Saturday I saw The Watch perform an evening of sublime Genesis tracks (early Gabriel era, with In The Cage for the newer fans)
What is "spanish bolero"? My spanish friends have introduced me to Habanera and southern Spanish flemenco guitar, but not "spanish bolero"?
Keeping in mind that different spanish nationalities use the same word for different things, being that I'm Cuban, Spanish Bolero is what we call this type of music:
For some reason, smoking a cigar and drinking some vino, while listening to this type of music really helps me relax.
I like Slipnot, Mudvayne, Killswitch is aight, Hatebreed is better IMO. Definitely Pantera, Suicidal Tendancies, Slayer - from the old school stuff. I still rock some Sepultura, Motorhead and Cannibal Corpse (not for the singing/yelling, just for the drums and guitar) on occasion.
Mark Knopfler is my all time favorite; has been for more than twenty years. He's so far ahead of whoever's in second place, there is no second place. Maybe down around fifth place you start to fine other folks: I like the Coors, Cold Play, some others. My daughter listens to contemporary Christain music, a lot of which sounds pretty cool.
You should try listening to them while watching Planet Earth. Do it "Dark Side/Wizard of Oz" style. It is an EXPERIENCE. I came across it by accident and then read an article in the NYT about it a few years later.
My tastes are...odd. Metal, Death Metal, Satanic Metal (lol), Melodic Death Metal, Gothic Rock, Alternative Rock, and Sountracks mostly.

A bit of Dimmu Borgir and Kovenant (mostly just a few songs from each - "Puritania" by Dimmu Borgir is one of my favorites, except for the live version, which sucks a lot).
All manner of epic-sounding (or dark) soundtracks and original scores. Everything from the Star Wars soundtrack to the Blood theme from Dexter.
Sometimes I enjoy Linkin Park, but not so often.
I used to like Evanescence, as I enjoy the mix of classical soprano singing with harder rock music. Epica is similar. Both got old, though - particularly the excessively Christian themes of Evanescence (unsurprising, as they were a Christian band that "crossed over" into mainstream).
Occasionally Lacuna Coil.
Ever heard of the Minibosses? They do metal covers of old Nintendo themes. Considering that the Super Mario theme and various themes from Mega Man 2 get stuck in my head on a regular basis, these guys are awesome.
Honestly though I'll listen to damned near anything other than Country. Girlfriend has a major Lady Gaga fetish, and I find her music stuck in my head all the damned time, and to my great shame I can't actually say that I hate it. It's not in my playlist, but I don't make her turn it down.
I have trouble picking out speech with background noise, which means I have difficulty picking out words in a song. I can pick out individual instruments and so on, but the words elude me. I tend to listen to music in most (but not quite all) cases more for the actual sound than for anything in the words, which I frequently can't understand anyway (this is often the case with Dimmu Borgir).
EDIT Oh, and Dethklok is awesome. I don't care if they're a fake band, Dethalbum I and II rock.
So far I have to say Cavediver's tastes seem closest to mine; Sigur Ros are indeed brilliant and and Tori Amos is a long time favourite (Boys For Pele is probably my favourite album, but the live set on disc two of To Venus and Back is damn good as well.).
I really enjoyed Los Panchos as well, kudos to Onifre. I'd welcome any more recommendations for Cuban music.
According to Winamp, my current favourites are Electric Six, CSS, Hot Chip, Battles (who are really strange and really good!), Gorillaz, Nick Cave (Dig Lazarus, Dig! is probably his best yet), Add N to X, Digitalism, Death in Vegas and The Go! Team. Sounds about right. I'm lucky in that I have wide ranging musical tastes.
The piece I'm almost evangelical about right now though is Raiding the Twentieth Century Redux by DJ Food and Paul Morely.

This is simply one of the most amazing mixes I've ever heard, complex, intricate, almost endlessly inter-connected... I just can't find the words to express how much I love this! How can you not love a set that includes a mash up of I Got You All in Check by Busta Rymes with the theme from Steptoe and Son? The whole thing is available here;
Traditionally, I've always loved metal since like the 6th grade. Started out with Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer....then of course progressed to the much much heavier underground metal....one of my favs was always Immortal. Tremendous rift writing...probably none better.
Now, this may seem weird for a guy who is a YEC and fully believes the words of the Bible....but alas, call it my vice.
As marriage and kids came along my metal as taken a backseat. I sold over 1,000 cds and put allot on my ipod but rarely listen to it. Now I find myself listening to country (thanks wife.....*sarcasm*) and now more Christian radio and classical.
