I think I figured out how to get a Coffee House topic started finally.
This is to say Hi to EvC people old and new and thanks to Percy for having me back at EvC.
Thanks to Jazzns for his welcome on the Valles Marineris thread. Sorry to hear I had an effect on you I wouldn't be proud of.
I wanted to come back at least for a while because I'd still like to work out some of my old favorite topics better. I didn't do the best job on them when I was here before. But I'm not quite ready to just plunge right in.

YES!
Hi dear sister. A hearty welcome back. We do need you here for healthy balance and more of your uniquely astute insight.
Perhaps if we can get up more balance here, some of our counterpart friends who have so much time on their hands will have more of us to contend with.
Don't forget: Here at EvC you'll need thick skin and a cool MO! I see you've achieved a 1 rating already, which has progressed to a 3 already. Way to go!

Re: YES!
Thank you so much, Buz, I appreciate that. I can maybe manage the thick skin and cool MO to a point but I'm not sure I want the battering all that much so we'll see how long I last. I just want to see what kinds of answers I get to certain topics.
Rating systems I've seen usually reflect ideology more than judgment of merit, so I'm not sure it matters what the numbers say.

Thanks to Jazzns for his welcome on the Valles Marineris thread. Sorry to hear I had an effect on you I wouldn't be proud of.
Well, I mean the same could be said the other way. I am sure you are still a creationist and I am not.
I just think you ended up being a figurative sharpening stone for me. I know more now that convinces me that creationism is wrong because of our debates than I probably would have had without them.
Thats probably a consequence of any debate where there is not too much chance of one side changing their mind.

Welcome back, Faith.
I always appreciated you as one of the few creationists honest in their approach. You acknowledged to me once, if I recall, that no evidence would ever convince you of the accuracy of evolution or the inaccuracy of the bible.
That being said, I admit to some confusion about your return. I assume your approach hasn't changed, and the evidence hasn't changed. So, I'm curious about what you hope to accomplish.

Thanks Straggler, long time. Thanks also, Subbie, though I don't remember saying anything QUITE like that. You sure you got it right? A word or two a bit off perhaps?

Repeating History
You seem to be back to the familiar situation of attracting at least a half dozen replies for each one of your posts in your new thread. This is an exponential problem and I wonder if you can't forsee now the inevitable frustration?
Perhaps you should suggest the topic to be limited to few participants again?

Oh, probably. It was several years ago, and I can't seem to find where you said it.
I'd be happy to hear you describe how I've misstated your position. On the other hand, if you don't want to clutter this thread up with such a discussion, I'd understand.

Well, there's nothing much I can do about it and I don't feel the same way about all this as I did a few years ago anyway. The frustration doesn't bother me as much and I'm mostly just focused on the topic and trying to get a sense of how people think about what I'm saying and get my own position as clear as I can. Of course that does mean sorting through all kinds of misunderstandings since it's hard to get things stated in a way that makes sense to everyone.
Perhaps you should suggest the topic to be limited to few participants again?
I don't think so. It's too hard to know who would make the best combatant and for what purpose. I'll just have to limit my responses as time goes on and spend more time on those that have the most relevance and import for the topic at the moment.
Apparently biology and genetics aren't your topics of interest?

I suspect my statement to you was more of a prediction than a statement of policy as you seem to have read it.
I'm sure there MUST be some evidence that would HAVE to convince me of evolution if it were true, it just doesn't exist.
That is, I'm thoroughly convinced that evolution is bogus, there is no evidence that convinces me -- most of what is called evidence turns out to be hypothesis and assertion, and what IS factual supports creationism just as well as evolution and better in my judgment -- and I have every confidence that there can't be and never will be any such evidence. (It's not that I haven't run across claims that I can't answer I hasten to add, but in the big picture, overall, I've got a pretty good grip on what is offered as evidence and I judge it as stated.)
Same with the Bible. Except that in this case faith in it does allow one to recognize truths that unbelieving critical intellect can't grasp.
Not a policy, a prediction.
Cheers.

Well, I'm quite sure that's not what I understood you to say before, but I accept it now as your position and will chalk up my previous understanding to miscommunication.
I see little point in exploring the implications of the rest of your post in this thread, so will not comment on it one way or another.
