Ayatollah: Kill all Jews, annihilate Israel:
Iran lays out legal case for genocidal attack against 'cancerous tumor'
Ayatollah: Kill all Jews, annihilate Israel
The Iranian government, through a website proxy, has laid out the legal and religious justification for the destruction of Israel and the slaughter of its people.
The doctrine includes wiping out Israeli assets and Jewish people worldwide.
Calling Israel a danger to Islam, the conservative website Alef, with ties to Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said the opportunity must not be lost to remove this corrupting material. It is a ‘jurisprudential justification to kill all the Jews and annihilate Israel, and in that, the Islamic government of Iran must take the helm.
[snip]
My question is, why don't the liberal establishment and the media (but I'm being redundant) take this kind of thing seriously?
I know this report is from WND, home of a lot of cranks, but one might ask why this isn't reported elsewhere?
Did the Ayatollah say this or not? Does this represent state policy for Iran? And if so, why is it being ignored by the media?
Inquiring minds want to know.

Religious belief does not constitute scientific evidence, nor does it convey scientific knowledge.

Srsly?!? Is there anyone there who ISN'T a crank? Just asking.

Any response...
Any response to the threatened genocide of all Jews, everywhere, which is the subject of this thread?

Religious belief does not constitute scientific evidence, nor does it convey scientific knowledge.

I know this report is from WND ...
Well there you go then. Puzzle solved.
Here, by comparison, is an Israeli take on it, from ynetnews, the English language website of Yedioth Ahronoth, Israel's most-read newspaper. Note their ability to distinguish between a weblog and the Iranian government, and between a computer engineer called Forghani and Ayatollah Khamenei, who are actually two different people.
But then, they're probably part of the "liberal establishment". And they're definitely part of "the media". Unlike WND, which apparently isn't.

Well, the word pffft comes to mind.

Just bloggers? Well that certainly gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling for those particular Iranian nutcases. No problem then, eh?
I would have thought that calls for global genocide for an entire country and their ethnic group worldwide would have resulted in some condemnation, somewhere.
Guess not, eh?

Do you really think that the media should report every nut-job that posts on the internet?

Do you really think that such a threat, given the rise of anti-Semitism worldwide and particularly in Arab countries, should be just ignored?
Does the term, "Never again!" mean anything to you?

While your warm and fuzzy feeling is unjustified, you are right to say that that's not a problem.
I would have thought that calls for global genocide for an entire country and their ethnic group worldwide would have resulted in some condemnation, somewhere.
Oh, people are always calling for genocide on the Internet.
Here are Fox News viewers on the internet calling for the murder of all atheists. That doesn't particularly worry me, nor at the time did I bother to condemn it. How 'bout you?
Here are the people who want to kill all the liberals. Though that great humanitarian Rush Limbaugh wants to keep one or two for display purposes.
If I condemned all the genocidal lunatics on the Internet I wouldn't have time to look at all the porn.

The local crazies don't have nukes. The Iranians either have them or are about to get them.
All of this reminds me of the '30s and the apologists for the rise of Hitler and his wretched crew.
For some reason liberals never seem to take these kinds of threats seriously.
I'm willing to state that those threats of genocide against all Jews worldwide, and the threats to annihilate the state of Israel, deserve condemnation.
Are you?

The local crazies don't have nukes.
Nor does the blogger. So far, they are on a par. Let's hear some condemnation, then.
The Iranians either have them or are about to get them.
And Iranians with nukes would scare the bejeezus out of me, unlike the Iranians with internet access.
All of this reminds me of the '30s and the apologists for the rise of Hitler and his wretched crew.
For some reason liberals never seem to take these kinds of threats seriously.
Is that meant to explain why the conservative Neville Chamberlain cravenly appeased Hitler when Hitler had a great big Army and kept invading places, or why the liberal Dr A mocked a blogger with no power whatsoever? Only those are actually different kinds of threats. 'Cos one of them isn't a real threat. Oh, and one out of me and the former leader of the Conservative Party is a liberal, see if you can work out which.
I'm willing to state that those threats of genocide against all Jews worldwide, and the threats to annihilate the state of Israel, deserve condemnation.
Are you?
Yes, certainly. What I'm not going to do is worry about these threats when uttered by someone who might as well be threatening to grow silver wings and fly to the moon. At the very worst they are straws that show which way the wind blows.

I agree - we have to keep threats like these in perspective. While the threats may sound the same, the source is the thing to keep in mind. I am no more worried about this than I would be about the neonazis. These groups are trying to get attention for their own beliefs and common way to do that is to scare people. It's great marketing and certain to help spread their name. Works for the fashion industry (you're old/fat/ugly) just as well as for kids marketing (either 'buy this or your kids won't love you' or 'if you don't have/like this, your friends won't like you').
If you can frighten enough bunnies, you can start the spread of panic and your job is done.
Of course, the other side to this is genuinely dangerous groups. The rise of Hitler was mentioned and is an excellent example. Al Quaeda is a more modern one. The real trick is that you can never be sure of the assessment until hindsight kicks in. The crazies are only dangerous when they're not really crazies. To be a real threat, a group has to be organised and focused. Hamas is a far greater threat to Israel than our blogger.
Of course, the impulse is to be wary of any and all threats but this doomed to failure. All that results is that you spend your time jumping at shadows, thus admitting defeat by default.

Yes, it does.
But it does not mean that the media has to respond to every nut-job on the internet.
You seem to be expecting some kind of global reaction to that blogger's rant.
But you don't seem to have an answer for why he is unique amongst nut-jobs and therefore deserves the credibility that media coverage would give.
I will ask again in the hope of an actual answer:
Do you think that the media should report every nut-job that posts on the internet?

For some reason liberals never seem to take these kinds of threats seriously.
You pompous sanctimonious arsehole.
I spent my Saturday afternoon on the streets of my home city demonstrating against fascism. I saw religious organisations represented. I saw ethnic organisations represented. I saw left-wing organisations - lots of them - represented.
I saw not one single right-wing organisation represented. Not one.
You seem to think that because, unlike WorldNutDaily, the mainstream media is uninterested in telling lies about lone internet nuttballs, that the left is somehow complacent about fascism. What utter crap. How dare you slander people so casually?
The truth is that the WND article was a lie, that the invasion plan had no link to the Iranian government and that all this fuss is over a single scumbag blogger. As a result, WMD went nuts, told some lies, you fell for it and now you're excoriating liberals (your regular bugbear) for not joining you in your stupidity. Well tough. Some of us prefer not to get our panties in a bunch over insipid lie-sites like WND.
This isn't about anti-semitiam, Iranian nukes or Israel; it's just another excuse for you to slander "liberals". You are truly pathetic.
