New Hampshire - Evolution-as-theory bill defeated

I've just noticed this today and it was as expected. However, what is bothering me is the language used by the bill's main sponsor So now evolution is a "criminal idea"? I think that's an outrageous statement to make and one he should be held to account for.How on earth do we counter this sort of garbage?Possibly Education forum, but whatever you think best.Edited by Trixie, : No reason given.

Are you sure this is something you want to discuss? I mean, it's a free country, even idiots have free speech, it's part of America's charm. He's an idiot, he's had his say, why dignify it with any attention?

It struck me as ominous, given the recent reports of a soldier being murdered (in Texas I think) for being an atheist. However, if you want to just put it into Links, that's fine.

Although it is no easy task to assess the conflicting motives of Hitler and his supporters, Darwinism-inspired eugenics clearly played a critical role. Darwinism justified and encouraged the Nazi views on both race and war. I say we counter by blaming the acceptance of gravity for the death of people who choose their method of suicide as jumping from a tall building.We can blame acceptance of germ theory for people getting sick.

Always has been from the earliest days of the anti-evolution movement in America, starting circa World War One (AKA "The Great War", AKA "The War to End All Wars"). All evil, including German militarism and the Red Scare, was blamed on evolution. They've always been spewing that nonsense, the only difference being that they didn't add Nazism until WWII.

I also came across a creationist from one of the Scandinavian countries who blamed Darwinism for American free-market capitalism. Truly, it's the root of all evil, though what exactly is evil varies from person to person. But whatever's evil, Darwinism is responsible for it.
