For essentially cursing Israel and for Sodomy, two biggies that tick God off.
As we throw Israel under the bus, all the while aiding and building up the armies of their enemies, we are essentially cursing Israel. Our own Pentagon, for the first time celebrated gay rights day. We are, for the first time in our history advocating gay marriage, etc. You can call me homophobic or what ever. I'm just telling you what, Biblically, ticks God off. That America is being pounded with disaster after disaster is, imo, just another evidence that he does, indeed, exist and is to be feared and acknowledge by man, whom he created in his image. That America is being pounded with disaster after disaster is, imo, just another evidence that he does, indeed, exist and is to be feared and acknowledge by man, whom he created in his image. I observe that the level of "disasters" befalling America today is not significantly different from before gays were accepted in the military, or society in general. If your God "cursing" the nation looks identical to him not "cursing" it, I find no particular reason to care about what your deity thinks. Hurricanes, wildfires, tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, hail, earthquakes, volcanoes have all happened regardless of the political landscape throughout human history. Can you show any evidence for the claim that America is "being cursed?" I mean, we all know that your deity disapproves of decent moral character. The Bible makes it abundantly clear that witches and homosexuals and disobedient children are all taboo such that they should all be killed. I agree completely that your deity, should he exist, would disapprove of social progress in the direction of greater acceptance and increasing moral decency toward each other and our mutual rights to be different from each other. But I don't feel particularly cursed. And I don't see any difference whatsoever in the nation from before the acceptance of gays and after in terms of natural disasters or wars or other great negatives. It looks to me like your deity is pretty powerless, considering his spite affects me not one bit. Or, you know...like he doesn't actually exist outside of your imagination. Either way, I'm glad the US military is finally accepting open homosexuals. It was morally abhorrent that we should ask young men and women to risk their lives or even die for our nation, yet rejected who they were and forced them to always live in hiding. I applaud the open acceptance of homosexuals in the United States. After all, I'm heterosexual, but I very much enjoy the occasional sodomy. Maybe you and your god should give it a try some time? The human understanding when it has once adopted an opinion (either as being the received opinion or as being agreeable to itself) draws all things else to support and agree with it. - Francis Bacon "There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs." - John Rogers A world that can be explained even with bad reasons is a familiar world. But, on the other hand, in a universe suddenly divested of illusions and lights, man feels an alien, a stranger. His exile is without remedy since he is deprived of the memory of a lost home or the hope of a promised land. This divorce between man and his life, the actor and his setting, is properly the feeling of absurdity. — Albert Camus "...the pious hope that by combining numerous little turds ofvariously tainted data, one can obtain a valuable result; but in fact, the outcome is merely a larger than average pile of shit." Barash, David 1995.

God cursing America? Yeah, I noticed. When it was just the plague of locusts I laughed it off, but after the rain of blood and the deaths of our firstborn I started recognizing the classic signs of God being pissed off.
Obviously it's too late for me, I'm a heck-bound sinner, but you might be able to save yourself. My best advice to you is to flee this land of wickedness ... don't look back or you might get turned into a pillar of salt or a heap of pepper or a jar of mustard or something. Apparently God hates people who look back at things as much as he hates sodomy, and uses his magical powers to turn them into condiments. Start running. Edited by Dr Adequate, : No reason given.

This curse applies to nations. Thus America has, for two centuries been blessed of God, more-so than any other nation and is, for the first time being cursed by God. Yet the majority of Israeli's support equal rights for same sex couples, and Israel recognizes foreign same sex marriages, although it doesn't yet have its own. Buz, maybe you're on the wrong side. The Holy Land is turning into a Pink Paradise, and Jerusalem is becoming the San Francisco of the Middle-East. Should God's chosen tribe expect earthquakes first, or another flood?

I'd say the evidence shows that the god Buz tries to market is really pretty pitiful and worthless.

Help me out here Buz. On the one hand, God wont reveal himself to us because that would destroy our faith. On the other hand, it's all plagues, pestilence earthquakes and ruin. If you consider those to be acts of God, doesn't that remove the need for faith? In the same light, if God is willing to interfere at all why doesn't he just stick his head through the clouds and say "You there! Stop with the sodomizing!" I bet he would get a much higher level of compliance.

In all of my 76 years I've never ever observed the rapidity and variety of disaster after disaster in this nation, i.e tornadoes, flooding, fires, hurricanes, twin towers felled by box cutters, etc. It appears that God used his omnipotence to curse America in advance. "Our own Pentagon, for the first time celebrated gay rights day", you write --- so it was cursed by being attacked by terrorists eleven years previously. We have "cursed Israel", you write, which I take to be your usual fatuous lie about Obama's foreign policy --- and this accounts for flooding? Hmm, when was the last time any substantial portion of America flooded? Oh yeah, 2005. That was the costliest natural disaster in the entire history of the United States, and it happened before the stuff you say we're being cursed for. But if God gets his cursing in in advance, how will we ever know what we're being cursed for? You speculate that it's for what we're doing now, but maybe God's using his powers of prescience to curse us for the really really awful thing we're going to do in the year 2138.
Jesus and his apostles advocated no killing or violence by Christians. That all applied only to the nation of Israel, Gods tiny messianic nation, in a different dispensation. Yes, well, it's hard to tell sometimes. Apparently the bit about sodomy still stands, but not the bit about picking up sticks on Saturday or wearing mixed fabrics. Apparently the only way to find out which bits of the old dispensation are still valid under the new is to ask a member of the Religious Right ... and sometimes I think they just make it up as they go along to fit with their personal prejudices.
How old are you? If you're old enough, your head is in the sand if you can't discern an increased variety and rapidity of national, I say national disaster. Yeah, from the San Fransisco earthquake to the bombing of Pearl Harbor to the outbreak of the Civil War, we sure have been having a lot of problems in these last few years. Oh, wait ... * glances at calendar, shakes head *

Buz, you forgot the whole slew of the decline of morality and of society as opposed to the vast majority of USA history (counting from the Revolution/Constitutional Convention time onward). Most all of which dates back to the mid-1950's.
But wait! What is the National Motto? "In God We Trust". But since when? In 1776, it was established as "E Pluribus Unum", which means "out of many, one", a statement of the unification of diverse parts. When did that change? Our National Motto, the one which had guided our great nation from its very founding up until within my own lifetime and, I would assume, also yours, was scrapped by a Republican Congress and Republican President in 1956 in favor of a purely religious statement, "In God We Trust." We as a nation fared very well, grew and prospered, under the old Motto, and have declined precipitously under the usurper motto. In 1955, one year before that calamitous decision, that same offending blasphemy was ordered to be printed on all our money. Is that the "Mark of the Beast" that the fundamentalists keep harping on? That would be affixed upon all our money? The atrocity committed against the Pledge of Allegiance, is more minor, since the Pledge only dates back to 1892 and wasn't adopted by Congress until 1942, no doubt as part of the WWII war effort. For its first 62 years, it extolled "one nation indivisible", but then as the first Republican onslaught against America, the Pledge of Allegiance was the first to be corrupted in 1954 with that singular statement of American unity, "one nation indivisible", being split asunder with sectarian religion, the phrase "Under God". It happened the year before I entered Kindergarten, but my impression is that you are older than I am and so should have gone through the experience of having been raised on one Pledge only to have it one year suddenly changed out from under you. At my sons' one Little League game when the Pledge was performed, a local grand-dad left out the offensive "under God", remarking that the nuns had beat it out of him -- apparently, the Catholic schools weren't immediately on-board with the new-fangled Protestant bullshit that the government was trying to impose on them; the entire parochial school system was created in response to the Protestants using the government to impose their religion on all students and blocking any public funds from going to Catholics for their own schools, a legislative and legal legacy which now prevents Protestants from being able to divert public funds to their own sectarian religious schools -- Karma does work!. BTW, the 1940's lawsuits challenging the teaching of Protestant religion in the public schools were filed by Jewish parents. Do you have any idea why, after a couple millennia of pograms and other Christian atrocities, Jewish parents might have some feelings about Christianity being jammed down their childrens' throats? No, I didn't think that you would. So, Buz, we aren't being especially damned because of the gays, but rather it started back in the 1950's with religious sectarianism, the very antithesis of the ideals of America. Or to quote the main protagonist of the new TV show, "The Newsroom": "I'm a conservative, but I don't blame global warming on gay marriage." BTW, Buz, Dr. Adequate poses an interesting question. Since America has become Sodom and Gomorrah and you, as Lot, must flee it, where are you going? What nation is righteous enough for you? The Taliban regions of Afghanistan come to mind. Oh, and don't let your daughters corner you in a cave and get you drunk. Unless you happen to be into that kind of sick stuff. It seems that the majority of American disasters pre-date America's concerns with both sodomy and Israel. That's a bit weird really - unless at that time he cared about something else - maybe eating the wrong kind of food or wearing the wrong kind of clothing? [Luckily he appears to have cooled off on those - or has he?]
I don't know, it's pretty hard to tell because he's never been terribly clear about which pestilence belongs with which abhorrence. As usual, Wiki can help us out here, if you'd like to add another column to the Great American Disaster list and just tell us which wrong they were being smited for, it would help greatly. I think you've got it wrong Buz - God's chilled out this year. Clearly he likes the gays! Here's the total number of earthquakes detected in the US since the 1990s:
1990: 22681991: 2171 1992: 3581 1993: 2933 1994: 3587 1995: 2725 1996: 2807 1997: 2839 1998: 2779 1999: 3003 2000: 2342 2001: 2261 2002: 3876 2003: 2946 2004: 3550 2005: 3685 2006: 2783 2007: 2791 2008: 3618 2009: 4262 2010: 8497 2011: 5237 2012: 1871 Clearly, God started getting himself worked up around 2009, and really let rip in 2010 - something was pissing him off righteously there. Apparently, God supports Spain, and was going on a rampage of fury in vengeance for the USA's win over Spain in the Confederations Cup. He eventually got over this a bit, mollified by the World Cup win, and started to chill out slowly through 2011. This year he's about over it - we're more than half way through and you're still on less than 2,000 earthquakes, with none of a magnitude of 7.0 or higher. Apparently the Pentagon's gay rights day was what it took to chill him back to normal.

How old are you? If you're old enough, your head is in the sand if you can't discern an increased variety and rapidity of national, I say national disaster. Others have beaten me to it. The evidence provided in the posts above details an extensive and objective account of the real didasters that have befallen the US over the years... ...and there is absolutely no correlation between the frequency of disaster and the political climate of the nation, at lease with regards to Israel or homosexuality. It would seem, Buz, that your memory, while longer than mine, is more selective. Edited by Adminnemooseus, : Add the "/" to the quote closing "[qs]".The human understanding when it has once adopted an opinion (either as being the received opinion or as being agreeable to itself) draws all things else to support and agree with it.
