With much regret and reservation, I have begun to realize that Obama will most likely not win a second term.We visited my sister over last weekend. Her husband is a Phd engineer working for caterpillar. He blames all of cat's problems with the union striking on the health care reform. He said cat is considering dropping everyone's health insurance and just pays for the penalty because it will be cheaper. His parents' roof needs a replacement and he blames their inability to pay for a new roof on the health care reform.Basically speaking, he blames everything about everything on the health care reform.We just sat quietly listening to him blaming all of society's problems on the health care reform.I believe he represents a very large portion of the American populace. Just blame all their problems on the health care reform.After spending the weekend at their place, I've become convinced that Obama will lose this upcoming election

There are a lot more Democratic voters than there are Republican voters. If people get to the polls, Obama will again win, though by a slim margin. I belong to a labor union and we feel as if Romney would kill us.

But think about it for a moment. I firmly believe that if you repeat a lie long enough people will begin to believe it. The republicans have been blaming all of society's problems on the healthcare reform. I'm afraid people have begun believing them.

Well, I think that's a mistake. I could be wrong, anything could happen, but Obama's held a pretty significant lead in most polls for months, now. Romney's just not getting any traction with anybody, and the economy keeps improving (albiet slowly.)

After you have been away from that place for a few day, perhaps you will rethink that.It may well be a close election. I'm inclined to think Obama will win, though I am far from certain.

I would have asked him why Cat payed for employee health insurance when there were no penalties whatsoever for not providing it. I wonder what his answer would have been. That may be true amongst the Rep base, but independents will be swayed by the facts which are on the side of the ACA and the Dem party.

I did ask that. You are probably not aware, I don't know, but Cat is self insured. Their insurance for their employees are run by them. My bro in law, and according to him everyone in Cat, thinks that the new health care reform requires that Cat drop their self-run insurance program and get it from a real insurance company.Think about it for a second. I'm talking about a Phd engineer here. I'm talking about one of the largest corporations in the world here. These very smart individuals completely misunderstand what's in the reform. I know. But there are still a hell of a lot of people who continue to believe in the disinformation that the republican base have been putting out there.It's been half a week since we got away from that place, and I am sitll as depressed as ever. I guess what I'm most depressed about is the fact that a Phd engineer along with his Phd buddies from one of the largest engineering firms in the world all believe firmly in lies. Obama hasn't got a chance to win this next election.

And obviously, engineers with PhD's are highly representative of the American electorate. I think you need to talk yourself off that ledge. Firstly, Romney is only the presumptive nominee, and this Bain thing that's coming out today - that Romney is either lying now about his involvement with Bain, or committed a number of felonies in his SEC filings from back then - may simply knock him out of the running. Secondly, the trend of the popularity of the ACA is that it's been getting more popular, not less.Thirdly - I don't think you can win any money betting against Obama. Remember what happened to Jack Ryan? Remember how nobody thought he could beat McCain, or defend himself in a primary against Hillary? Remember when everybody wrote off health care reform when Ted Kennedy died? Maybe you're right and it's a long shot this November, but Obama wins long shots. I think you write him off at your own peril.

Bug frog, we were all sure Bush was going to lose to back in 2004. You remember that? Bush's ratings were in the 30s. Every major news network hinted that he was a 1 term president. Everyone on here said there was no chance in hell he would get a second term. And yet there he was a clear winner.Believe me, right now Romney scares the hell out of me. And I've fallen in love with Obama. But there are just too many disinfo out there that people believe in. We're doomed

Fortunately the US is large enough to withstand almost anything any President can do.The US survived Reagan, Bush senior, Bush junior.The Presidency in the US is really not so important that anyone in that position can cause really major catastrophic disasters.

I hate to break this to you. Nobody is paying attention to this bain thing. If you look at the google news page and look up romney, you will not find anything regarding the bain date. Nobody cares that romney is a sociopathic liar.

Your argument reminds me of a global denier's argument I once heard. Hd said the earth has been here since the dinosaur and it will still be here even if global warming was true.There's one problem with this line of argument. Nobody is saying global warming will destroy the earth just like nobody is saying a romney/palin/bachman presidency will destroy this country. Just how climate change will make our lives harder, a wrong president can make all of our lives less than enjoyable.I'm not a doomsday nut.
