Longtime EvC Biblical Creationist Buzsaw has died, according to his wife whom I talked with today. He was one day shy of his 77th birthday and had advanced cancer of an unknown type.
She remarked that he had been feeling badly nearly all summer and, upon learning that he had cancer, lasted but 12 more days. Buzsaw was never widely liked or respected at EvC Forum, but she did say that he always prayed for all of us and that he strongly believed that what he was doing was representing his faith and belief as he understood it. She added that he had kind words for Percy and jar, two of his oldest ideological adversaries.
May he rest in peace. (in a later post, I will organize some of his links and information. ) We are a sort of extended dysfunctional internet family here at EvC, and I hope that anyone with kind words will say them and anyone with not so kind words will be appropriately respectful.

Rest in Peace, Brother Buz
Aw, poor old Buz. He took quite a beating here but took it with grace and charity. I disagreed with his Adventist theology as well as some of his creationism and other arguments but I did have to recognize him as a brother in Christ and I think of him as now happily with his Lord.
Thank you for keeping in touch and letting us know, Phat.

Thank you Phat. Buzz seemed like a basically nice guy, despite his mistaken takes on many things here.
Sad. May we all give one long coyote's howl to the moon in his honor, and ride our horses slowly back home.

Thanks for the information.
I respected Buzsaw as a person, but I disagreed with much of what he posted.
My best wishes to his family.

Buz, we hardly knew ya ...
Goodbye Buzsaw old friend.
Never to my knowledge had a bad word to say about anyone here, no matter how much we disagreed.
Honest to his beliefs. Obstinate in his faith.
An interesting point of view.
I will miss you.

Rest in Peace, Buz
I am not a very active member, but i do read almost everything written here, and i really did enjoy Buzsaw.
He will definitely be missed here, that is for sure. If i could pick an EvC member to drink a cup coffee with, he would be my number 1 choice.
All my thoughts go to his family and friends.
Edit:
Buzsaw was never widely liked or respected at EvC Forum
Im pretty sure most of us both liked, and respected him.
And those who did not like him, atleast respected him.

On Buz
I too liked Buz. In fact I like pretty much everyone here.
I would have liked to have sat down with Buz, shared a few beers and gone over all our points of agreement and disagreement.
The interwebs are sometimes a little too impersonal, and sometimes we forget there are real live people on the other side of the screen.
And I really will miss him too.

I don't believe Buz was generally disliked. He was mistaken on much of his science and he could be exasperating but he was the genuine article. He had serious faith and fought for it.
He was never anything but extremely cordial to me even in the midst of heavy disagreement. He will be missed and I hope he is at peace, whether in the ultimate end or in his heaven.

Sorry, Phat, I have to take issue. Buz *WAS* beloved. He was frustrating and noble and stubborn and kind and all the complicated stuff that makes us human. He had a spirit that transcended argument and disagreement. I hope his wife and family and friends somehow discover how important a role he played here. He will be deeply missed.

Damn that really sucks
I am surprised how upsetting this news was to hear. I never agreed with the old Buzsaw and he exasperated me to no end, but I surely did like and respect him.
Conversations with him never devolved into name calling or vitriol. One could never convince him that he might be wrong, but he was unapologetic and proud of his beliefs without being rude or self righteous. He was a creationist I could respect.
He knew where he stood and he was not ashamed of it.
Yes. I liked him and respected him.

Bye Buzzman.
No personal animosity for him or from him.
He was stubborn. He was obstinate.
He was entertaining.
However...
I hope that ... anyone with not so kind words will be appropriately respectful.
Excellent advise. I will take it.
Bye Buzzman.

A Graceful Man
Buz was as kind as he was cantankerous.
When I was sick, he contacted me with heartfelt wishes for my recovery; when I aimed my most withering snark at his beliefs, he defended them stoutly and smiled.
He was never hateful to me, and managed to act as a warrior for his faith in a way that I thought was all too rare and sweet.
I cannot believe in your God, Buz--but I still hope you were in heaven a half hour before the devil knew you were dead.

Hi Percy,
Thanks for your condolences as well as all of you here in this crazy community of sanity. What I was wondering was if there is a thread similar to the Tribute Thread for the Recently Passed Greats started by Asgara for EvC members who have "graduated"...but I'm thinking even more than this - maybe there should be a Retired Number sort of thing that is up at the top, near the banner picture. RAZD tells me Buzz is not the 1st for him, and I imagine there may be more. For example, Buzsaw's number is 786. We could have a little list that links that number to that person's career here. And never let that number be used again (not that it could if the software is what I suspect it to be, anyway). Or just list the name.
