It took 50 years to prove Higgs right, what a brilliant piece of science from all angles - theory to empirical proof. If only biology could do that.
Higgs boson scientists win Nobel prize in physics - BBC News
And let's hear it too for the now second most famous Belgian, Francois Englert, joint winner.
I only wish I was capable of understanding the physics behind it.

Me too. I actually took a semester of Quantum Mechanics when I was studying Engineering and it damn near broke my brain.
Reminds me of a quote by Adam Savage (Mythbuster) when he was at the Reason Rally:
"I am not a scientist. I play one on TV. But I am in AWE of those that do it in real life."

"Our future lies not in our dogmatic past, but in our enlightened present"

I see that The Register is calling the Higgs Particle a deiton.
Which is nice.

Seems appropriate that they were unable to find Higgs when the news first came out.

Please clarify
The Higgs boson: a mad person explains.
You used "mad" in an undefined manner.
Did you mean insane, mentally ill, certifiable, deranged, demented, of unsound mind, out of one's mind, not in one's right mind, sick in the head, crazed, lunatic, non compos mentis, unhinged, disturbed, raving, psychotic, psychopathic, mad as a hatter, mad as a March hare; informal: crazy, mental, off one's nut, nuts, nutty, nutty as a fruitcake, nutso, off one's rocker, not right in the head, round/around the bend, (stark) raving mad, bats, batty, buggy, bonkers, dotty, cuckoo, cracked, loopy, loony, bananas, loco, screwy, schizoid, psycho, touched, gaga, not all there, not right upstairs, crackers, out of one's tree, meshuga, wacko, gonzo; vulgar slang: batshit; has a screw loose, has bats in the/one's belfry; lost one's reason, lost one's mind, took leave of one's senses, lost one's marbles, and cracked up?
Or just angry?

decay of Higgs observed at cern
It seems long held theories of the standard model are bearing fruit.
