I always thought that Canadian politics was a bit more accepting of evolution than American politics. But it's not really something I follow.
Saw this headline today and thought it was interesting:
Ontario PCs distance themselves from MPP who doesn’t believe in evolution
A PC (Progressive Conservative) MPP made a remark that it might not be a bad idea to stop teaching evolution in public schools.
The Liberals and NDP groups both laughed out loud at the remark and even the PC group as a whole is distancing themselves from their own member.
Ontario is one of the more-liberal provinces in Canada.
Is there a state (or more than one) in the US where a similar thing might happen? Or would most of America find such a statement as normal for politicians as the Bible Belt would?
