Yesterday I chanced on a show on our religious channel witht the evangelist John Hagee. It was about Halloween and he was interviewing an "expert" on the occult about the origins of Halloween and the like. She had said that it was a celebration of death and that it had nothing to do with Christianity because it's roots were pagan. They were also going on about how it was devil worship and all that other nonsense as well.
What they were leaving out (Big surprise ) was the fact that ALL Christian holidays are based in pagan roots. And Christians celebrates death as well with Easter where they get little children all excited about getting candy because a man was executed on a cross and came back from the dead.

Surley the candy part of Easter (eggs mainly) is of
Pagan origin ... start of spring and fertility rights
etc.
The church usurped the pagan festivals as a PR excercise
after all.

Yep. We muscled in on the lot. The early church was not a load of po-faced nineteenth century fundamentalist relics.
Halloween is a good laugh.
