My dad, anglagard, passed away last night after having a rough time with his health over the past couple months. Of all my family members, he was the one I was closest to. I feel unmoored and like I've been doused in ice water.

My condolences to you and your family, Mercury. I enjoyed your father's posts. He was one of the good guys around here. He will be missed. -Paul Eschew obfuscation. Habituate elucidation.

Sorry, sorry little one. A personal loss as well. But both of you also gave so very much and that continues.

Mercury, I am really sorry to hear this! I liked what anglagard had to say. He wrote to me privately about a shared interest in growing cannabis. He will be missed here! A wise and good man
Anglagard pushed us to be better people. He was always right too, in our debates. Im still processing this loss and im sure you feel it much deeper...my condolences and empathy, Mercury. "A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes." ~Mark Twain " *** “…far from science having buried God, not only do the results of science point towards his existence, but the scientific enterprise itself is validated by his existence.”- Dr.John Lennox “A God without wrath brought men without sin into a Kingdom without judgment through the ministrations of a Christ without a Cross.” H. Richard Niebuhr, The Kingdom of God in America “The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of a doubt, what is laid before him.” — Leo Tolstoy, The Kingdom of God is Within You (1894).

Anglagard
Maybe we should have a pinned Memoriam thread?

Whilst I rarely post on EvC these days, I do pop in to see how things are going. This was the last thing I wanted to see. Anglagard was witty, intelligent and insightful. His posts were always a pleasure to read. He was well respected here and will be missed. My condolences to you Mercury.

And mine too. Lives are finite, but the brightest and kindest light the world with warmth and love. Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

Anglagard is a favorite member to me (in a sense, he lives on though his past postings?). My impression is we pretty well agreed on things, although I think his idealism could have been tempered by a bit more pragmatism - or something like that. Moose
