I noted from the Origin of Life forum the mention of PANSPERMIA. A quick search revealed that Panspermia literally means 'seeds everywhere'.
Am I correct in thinking that the Earth was at one time devoid of biological life, and Panspermia offers a solution as to how life could have been introduced and evolved on Earth?
So out in the universe these seeds of life exist and can be transported through the universe on meteorites I assume? These seeds could find themselves on many different planets in the universe and as on Earth, the conditions for evolution could be right.
To me Panspermia certainly sounds a plausable explanation for the beginning and subsequent evolution of life on Earth. The question I'm asking is, can evidence be discovered to substantiate this theory and if so what particular evidence would it be?

No Need for New Thread
I don't see that this subject warrants a new thread.
Your current thread will suffice for you to discuss or ask your questions concerning Panspermia.
The Relationship Between the Beginnings of Life and the Evolution of Life

Re: No Need for New Thread
The title given to my current thread you refer to, The Relationship Between the Beginnings of Life and the Evolution of Life, gives no indication that the subject matter regards PANSPERMIA! I wanted to start another thread specifically regarding the subject of life from the cosmos and in particular PANSPERMIA. What is the specific problem with that?

Re: No Need for New Thread
We try to promote topics that will blossom into lively debates.
Since you've joined, you've had 4 PNT's promoted. None of them are actually written as debates, but are qustions. These types of threads tend to die out quickly when the originator has no position or no one takes up an opposing position.
This PNT is also not written as a debate. Your first sentence leads me to believe that you just discovered panspermia.
I noted from the Origin of Life forum the mention of PANSPERMIA. A quick search revealed that Panspermia literally means 'seeds everywhere'.
Since you are still just asking questions and not trying to support a position, the panspermia questions still fall under the thread in question. (The Relationship Between the Beginnings of Life and the Evolution of Life)
Post your first message in that thread and see what develops.

Re: No Need for New Thread
Thanks for replying. I thought you might think I was trying to be difficult. Reading back it seems I thought YOU were being difficult. I apologise for that.
And I understand what you are saying about debates. I guess the answers to my questions could be found by just searching the web.
