I was going to make postings in another thread (now closed) which outlined my view that the Conuest happened at the end of the Middle Bronze Age (which is typically dated at 1550 B.C. E. though the trend is to lower the end date).
I have pretty much known what to type for a LONG time (over 6 months though I have learned a little more since then and forgotten much more) but havnt had the time.
I have a problem in that I want to post lots of Bible verses (and many chapters) but my WebTV wont allow selective pasting (lets just say it would require a new post for every little paste).
I am going to email my book quotations to a friend then on his computer make use of pastings.
Plus my seperated smaller emails can help shield me from crashing while making long single-shot posts."Crash and burn" events have costed me hours of typing-work.
I need a thread that I can have ready to post in when I am ready.
Just to give an idea of what I will be presenting.
Archaeological occupations.
1) that the Edomite rulers & locations mentioned in Genesis 36 (Edomite King List)were populated throughout the time from Esau till the Israelite Monarchy.
2) that the exact Negev towns mentioned as populated (and destroyed)during the Wanderings/Conquest period were the ONLY towns with populations during the MBA period.
3) that the Moabite (and Amorites around Moab and in-control of Moab) towns described were in existence during the Conquest period. This is a complicated issue though and some may not be 100% satisfied with all the evidence I present.
4) that the Ammonite towns (and Amorites around Ammon and in-control of Ammon)were in existence at this time.
5)The Bible makes a special point in both Numbers and Deuteronomy which towns were and were not fortified in trans-Jordan.I will show that the specific towns (there were several) mentioned as fortified WERE infact fortified.
Between the Negev and Trans-Jordan, we were told (in the Bible accounts)which towns were burnt (none in Trans-Jordan actually except the Midianite towns which cant be located due to no actual location given-btw I wont cover Midianite towns since there is no point).I will show that the archaeological record backs up the Biblical record 100%.
I will also present the archaeological evidence that backs
up the Bibles account for the conquest of Palestine itself.I will cover the Joshua accounts from the first chapter till the 12th (also making small use of the parts from chapters 13-24), then cover the early chapters of Judges.
I will show that every identified biblical Conquest city (aside from Ai plus Ekron will need some explaining) was in existence at the time. And the ones described as destroyed (in the Bible) will be shown to be destroyed. The ones mentioned as surviving (and not burnt) will be shown to have survived.
I will present other evidence on related issues.
Here are a few...
..... that the "Habiru" is almost certain to be the same word as "Hebrew" based on the lastest archaeological discoveries(that linguists have taken notice of).
Also, I will show that a major Biblical Conquest hero is probably mentioned in a writing from a city destroyed at the end of the Middle Bronze Age. (this would be open to debate for sure but if "Ahmose" was found in writing from the time then we know what the "plausible" commentary would say in encyclopedia's). I will prove that the *exact* spelling is the same for this Biblical character.
I would appreciate a ready thread.
THX.

Nim,
I'm not sure if this is an answer to your pasting issue, but if you can find a way to compose your proposed post in a Word document, formated however you wish, you can email me the document and we can work on getting it into the Columnists Corner.
Feel free to email we with any questions or suggestions.

How about the Bible Accuracy forum?
My postings would better fit that forum since I would rather focus on quotations from literature as opposed to a "columnist" type thingy where (based on my idea of a columns)style and concise commentary would be more appropiate (I lack both lol).
Column's might not work so well when the opinions expressed arent at all mainstream.I prefer a more crude work-in-progress type of shop.
I appreciate the offer for a column though;thanks.
I wonder if there is a thread already open that I can use? However a problem becomes obvious whenever I find a good thread that can include Conquest debate; it is often too broad based and any discussion quickly gets swamped by fundamentalists dumping tons of pro-creationism posts one the one hand then "modern day prophecy" posts on the other hand.To make matters worse , those respective posts are always lacking any supporting evidence thus the liberal posters rightly point such out. Then to make matters even worse , the fundamentalists dont seem to understand the problem with presenting conclusions minus evidence.Enter about a few dozen more posts. Then the same cycle repeats itself after that finishes.
Is there any safe thread that excludes creationism and prophecy? (and "dispensationalists" -that is post 1800 A.D. "fundamentalists" obsessed with prophecy- literally think nearly every last Bible verse screams out "prophecy' for 1844/1914/1948/ 1988/2000/2012 or whatever upcoming respective period they are entering)
Could we please have a thread that has a topic something like "A Middle Bronze Age Conquest?".
(and YES any chat room full of dispensationalists will instantly start talking about how "Rahab and Jericho are a type for the Rapture" if you mention Joshua;seen it dozens of times!)
(I have yet to see it but would bet that the ruins of Jericho have been used on the quick as "evidence for the global flood" too-lots of weather erosion.)
Thanks.

Re: How about the Bible Accuracy forum?
The reason I had AdminAsgara approach you is that you seem to be preparing a large amount of info to present, as opposed to, starting a narrowly focused topic for debate.
Now if you are not wanting a debate, you need to clarify what your intentions are with posting this information.
If you want a debate, what specifically do you want to discuss? There seem to be several things going on in your OP.

I prefer debate actually.
I only avoid it (at times) because of time limitations. The main person I was debating (Brian)was also very busy thus I figured I would just go ahead and (try to) finish what I wanted to type (failed miserable).
If a person cant respond to criticism then it is an indication that they havnt critically-examined all aspects of the issue. Thus the house will fall when put under a microscope.
I am going to try and get major aspects of the research posted all at once, thus I will be free to debate. (the way things are looking, I wont be anywhere near finished by Friday-the time I hope to get some posts up-but hopefully I can get the Negev and Transjordan parts "completed" by then though I might need to make it much more slim than I would like)
I am not fearful of Conquest-critics posting.Infact it can be a benefit.
HOWEVER.....
I am somewhat fearful of fundamentalists jumping in with unsupported conclusions (or uncritically-researched pastes as "evidence" from the net) which will thus draw an avalanche of posts from liberals shooting them down (.. then the "cycle" starts).
Perhaps we can have a "Great Debate" where I am the only Conquest-believer allowed to post.Any non-believers can post PLUS *perhaps* some critically-minded Conquest believers can post (as long as they understand that evidence needs to precede belief).
I actually dont like my "rules" set out above. But clearly I need to fear my "friends" over my "enemies" since many fundamentalists already have a mind-set that 'evidence" comes on the cheap(thus they feel its as simple as pasting whatever they find infront of their faces on the net AND anybody who points out their error is just a mean "anti-Christian" fool).
Honestly, my biggest fear is not having a thread to post in at-all. I will gladly take a messy thread over none at all.
But many are getting locked (albeit for good reason) due to the mess they become.
Ill take any thread that I can post in (thus I can hopefully take for granted that it will remain open).
Thanks.

Just to be clear.
I want a debate centered on the Conquest (and only light discussion on the Exodus and Judges period for background and context).
I also want a thread which will be left open so I dont find it shut-down when I am ready to post (remember, I will only have a limited opportunity since I will be at a friends house).
Thanks again.

Possibilities
Nimrod, we can set you up a Great Debate thread and control the number of respondents. If you are planning on a large initial post or series of posts before you want any respondents, we can still offer you a Columnist's Corner thread.
We can continue to discuss the particulars here, but when you are ready for your initial post, please do it in a new proposed thread. It will be available for you to add posts to until you are ready for debate. Then we can move it and open it to your respondents.
If you are doing the work on a friend's computer, hopefully you are doing your draft work in a word document that you can save and revise as time allows. This way you can set up your post exactly how you want it before you even post it here.
