Bump from dino blood and bones. Because dating is a very important part of so many things, I will show here how the current thoughts on how it work need adjustment.
The last question on this arose here:
"I'm interested in your use of the word 'assumption' here. Yes, it is true that we are relying on constant rates of radioactive decay. But it's not like scientists have not tried to establish whether this is the case. Observations of distant supernovae, for example, show similar decay rates millions of years ago to those measured on Earth today. To get into this in detail is a little off topic, but you do realise that this 'assumption' has been tested and appears to be supported by evidence?"
Despite constant decay rates, if the whole process changed from something else that was not a decay process, then the current decay is limited in application to the past. One reads of very different conditions in the bible, where eternal life was in place, rather than the way it now works, I propose, after the fall when death entered the physical universe. Because the spiritual aspect was sperated, leaving only the physical, I call it the 'split'. This applied all through the universe, so the far away deacy, or even the light we have was affected. If one does not accept spiritual evidence of any kind, nor the bible, nor healings, fulfilled prophesies, etc. etc, then one would not be able to either prove the idea right or wrong.
Therefore the present decay rates were constant from the time they came into existance. This was at the split, before which a spiritual affected process was there. The 'merge' will come, when heaven comes, etc, and the physical only universe will forever cease to exist, and it will again be the physical/spiritual complete universe. I have discussed the aspects of the split in some detail about light, and lightspeed on other threads. So this one would mostly be about dating.
