I would like to hear about examples of prophesies that have supposedly came true and I would hope it could be done with some detail and not vaguely. It would have to be rather extensive in order to pass muster here I would think.

Hi,
One of the most impressive prophecies was Nostradamus' Quatraine 1.35
The young Lion, he will overcome the older one.
In a martial field by single combat,
Inside a cage of gold his eyes pierced,
Two ranks one, then dying, cruel death.
Notradamus explained the meaning of the quatrain to the Queen in 1556. In Paris in 1559 there was a joust and the prophecy was fulfilled.
The young lion, The Scottish Count of Montgomery he had acepted a challenge at a tournament in honour of the King's daughter, from the older lion, King Henri II of France.
On the first joust run the Duke of Montgomery nearly knocked the king off his horse, this led to the king demanding another run. However, this time the two men clashed and the King's lance shattered and he was mortally wounded.
The King's was wearing a gold embossed helmet!
His face wascovered in blood and splinters and one had pierced the left eye.
'Two ranks one', filfilled, because next day, Princess Marguerite married the Duke of Savoy in the church of St Paul, as arranged.
'Then dying, cruel death,' It took Henri about a fortnight to die from a horrendous infection that had set in, a very cruel death.
A very impressive prophecy, no ambiguity, crystal clear meaning and verified by many different sources.
Brian.

So his explanation was documented? That would be interesting to know....

Funny, I'm not impressed. It's incredibly ambiguous, if you ask me. It's just mad poetry until you massage a real-life event to fit it. The meaning has nothing resembling clarity, and I'm not sure what you mean by verification. You have a quatrain of dramatic verbiage with a vaguely interesting resemblance to something that later happened, but with mostly figurative terms and nothing like names or times. The content of the quatrain may be verified, and the actual events may be verified, but the only thing that matters is the connection between the two. This brings me back to my question of the "explanation" to the Queen. Without that, the rest is useless.

I'm with zephyr - not unambiguous at all.

Now, Jack and Zephyr! If you guys start doubting the True Prophecies (TM) of Nostradamus, I will be compelled to report you to the editors of the Weekly World News. They sell a very large number of very low-quality tabloid newspapers by using that resource to predict goofy crap, and they won't take kindly to your naysaying.
