Should those of religious faith be allowed to run this country? I posted this in the "evidence for conservative Christian influence on US government" thread
Brad writes:
Is seeking advice on blowing the ever living hell out of other countries (amongst other travesties), based on the advice from magical men in the sky, grounds enough for impeachment? If not, why the hell not?!?
I find it bothersome that as an atheist the president regularly seeks advice from a deity that I don't believe in. To me the fate of our country rests on the president's ability to talk to himself. What about people of other religions who see the Christian God as just another fictional God? Beyond that, should this form of instability be grounds for impeachment? I certainly think it should. Anyone else have comments?

I can see this discussion quickly going down the "Is that voice in my head God?" rathole. How about a more objective focus? Would you be willing to consider the issue from the perspective of the example of Islamic countries where clerics run the government? If so, please reply to this post with a modified proposal.

...changes
You bring up a good point, but how about instead of that, we consider my original topic...but in addition would a Christian fundamentalist be willing to have someone of Islamic faith in the whitehouse? Would a Christian fundamentalist be willing to allow the person to pray to their God and seek guidance for this country? If they would not support this, why wouldn't they?

I don't think so.

This is much stronger, very intriguing. Reply to this message with the text of this topic proposal.
Added by edit:
If you want to discuss "Is that voice in my head God?" then propose a different topic. This, too, is very intriguing, but political ramifications should be left aside until the more interesting sanity issues you raised are addressed.

New topic idea
Would a Christian fundamentalist be willing to have someone of Islamic faith in the whitehouse? Would a Christian fundamentalist be willing to allow the person to pray to their God and seek guidance for this country? Would a Christian be willing to support this president's action to have Islamic prayers at football games and school events? If the response of a Christian is (as I found out today from someone that I asked) is "Well, I don't believe in the validity of their God." ...well buddy, guess what they believe about your God. Are there any Christians here who would be willing to support this hypothetical? If so why? If not, why?
