These questions are respectfully posed for Bible literalists regarding the Bush proposal to spend hundreds of billions of tax dollars on the space station and eventual colonization of the Moon and Mars:
1) Should the U.S. commit hundreds of billions of dollars to continue the manned space exploration program, the manned space station, and eventual colonization of the Moon and Mars considering the eventual fate of mankind, Earth, Moon, and other heavenly bodies as told in Revelation [21:1, "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away ..."]?
2) Will the Messianic Government continue funding the manned space exploration and colonization program during the Messianic Millennium?
3) Does the Rapture refer to, or can it be interpreted to infer space colonization by the Righteous?
4) Should we colonize the Moon or Mars considering that after the advent of New Jerusalem, "the city has no need of sun and moon" indicating that the Moon may cease to exist altogether?
5) Is the current proposal to spend hundred of billions of dollars on the manned exploration and colonization of space in any way connected to the Satanic, one-world government theory?
This topic invites literalists and others to respond to the questions asked above, or to other similar questions that are based in the current space exploration and colonization proposal as it may relate to the eventual fate of the Earth, the Moon, Mars, and the Universe per creationist theory and per the events forcast by Revelation.

An initial response
I'm not exactly at ease with the label "Bible literalist", although I may not understand how you are using it. While I will attempt to answer your questions from a Biblical perspective, please do not ascribe such a label to me.
1- I hope you will excuse my absence of an answer, I generally try to not debate about government spending one way or the other for simple sake of preservation of sanity.
2 - No.
3 - No.
4 - Irrelevant to the future events in question.
5 - It is a possibility, but I don't think the motivation for this program can be linked to it solidly.

While not wishing to condem the space program entirely, I am inclined to think that a lot of it is an esoteric waste of money, that could be better spent elsewhere. It might actually seem to be a preparation for an evacuation, for when humanity completes the trashing of planet Earth.
I see the current space station as being a white elephant. This project should have been killed a long time ago. The problem is, once a hoard of money is spent on a project, the only thing to do is to spend a hoard more, to finish the job.
A while back, a lot of money was spent on a super-collider project, located in Texas. Fortunately, that project was killed.

Absolutely. I think we're well on the way there, and making a new home, like in The Wrath of Khan (was it that one ?).....Anyway, when the "Genesis" project is complete... I reckon the first on it will be the rich and powerful.
But then they call me the cynic.

I agree with the space station being a white elephant, but disagree that most space programs are esoteric, or that manned missions (at least to the moon and mars) would count as wastes of money.
But I am curious about the super-collider. Why did you feel that should have been junked? While I did feel it was silly to invest it in Texas, rather than grow Fermilab (okay I am biased since I lived within walking distance of Fermi and loved visiting there), I think that kind of research is useful. If you feel such projects are not worthwhile in general, what is the reason?

Other "space exploration" topics have also been created.
I suggest that this topic be reserved for theological considerations of space exploration (WWJD about exploring space? ).
