Scientific evidence proved in the Bible, before man proved it:
It is only recently that man has discovered there are mountains on the Ocean floor. Jonah 2:6
-
Man discovered ocean currents in the 1850's. Psalm 8:8
-
Abraham was told to circumcise the baby boys on the 8th day. Genesis 17:12. The eighth day is the day that prothrombin (coagulating factor in the blood) is the highest.
-
The law for the rain (Job 28:26) is what we call today the "water cycle" Ecclesiastes 11:3; 1:7 and Amos 9:6

Is that necessary Brian? If you want to discuss the individual lines ok, but avoid the ad hominum (if that is what it is).

Yea, but we don't know if David has before. Let's give him a chance and see if he is capable of learning something.

Uh, David
I'm just starting to check you verses. This is what you call scientific facts?
"and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas." is ocean currents? Maybe, maybe not. Since currents are also detectable on the surface I would imagine any seafaring peoples would know about currents in any case. Not terribly amazing to me.
Do you have a reference for the prothrombin assertion?
I'm out of time for the moment. So far so very, very unimpressive!
You also have to list ALL the "scientific" statments made and then we score to see how many are vaguely right and how many just plan wrong. Picking and choosing and twisting the way you appear to be is not very convincing. If you think it is then I guess you will be impressed with Hovind too. That should worry you a lot.

Was it part of the jewish religion to circumcise babies before the bible was written?
who knows how the circumcising ritual was started... but however it started, wouldn't people just notice bad things happening if they circumcised babies before the 8th day?
what makes you think anything in that passage refers to blood clotting? wouldn't trial and error (with no knowledge of blood clotting) land on somewhere around the 8th day also?

Is there really a significant difference in the dangers of circumcision based on which day it is performed? My guess is that there isn't. And if I had to guess, I would assume that the main danger would be infection, not bleeding to death.

well, you obviously didnt read it correctly then, Ned:
Jonah 2
6 I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.

Yea, David, I read that. Is disagreeing with how impressive this is not reading it correctly? It could mean mountains under the sea. It could also mean that mountains that are on land have their bottoms in the sea which one might conclude if one sees a mountain sloping down to the sea and carrying on from there.
In any case why is it so amazing to judge that there are mountains under the sea? You sure go for pretty minor things don't you?
Now what about all the scientific facts that the bible gets so very wrong?

Okay, like what does the Bible get wrong. And if you are going to quote revelation about how the earth is flat, save it, because when John said it, he was being poetic.

HI David,
Could you perhaps slow down the number of new topics that you are starting?
Maybe you could concentrate on replying to the mesages that people have been kind enough to respond to rather than maybe spreading yourself a bit too thinly all over the forum?

So, you're saying that the bible is supposed to be read as metaphor?
Yeah, I'm with you there.

I am pretty sure that the resurrection is poetic as well. Jesus wasn't dead he was just emerging from a metaphorical tomb into a new life. Far more sensible.
Brian.
