Dec. 26 MSN news quote:
All the planet is vibrating from the quake, said Enzo Boschi, the head of Italy’s National Geophysics Institute. Speaking on SKY TG24 TV, Boschi said the quake even disturbed the Earth’s rotation. Biblical quote of Isaiah the prophet, concerning latter day planet earth: Isaiah, chapter 24: Verses 18,19,20 ASV: .......the foundations of the earth tremble. The earth is utterly broken; the earth is rent asunder; the earth is shaken violently. The earth shall stagger like a drunken man and shall sway to and fro like a hammock. This whole chapter in Isaiah deals with latter day destruction and pestilence to the point that (verse 6), "few men" are left, "men," of course, referring to mankind. Then we read in the NT, Revelation chapter 16, verses 18 to 20 where global earthquake/s will have a smoothing effect on earth's surface, leveling the cities, mountains and the islands of the planet. There are other references in the OT concerning this, with phrases implicating the high mountains being lowered, etc. It appears that if the Bible is true, literally, as we Biblical fundamentalists believe to be the case, we should not be surprised to see an escalation of seismic activity on earth's crust and will need to get used to these kinds of catastrophes, and worse, as earthquakes increase in both magnitude and frequency. Interestingly, the Bible has it scientifically right that powerful earthquakes can, indeed, shake the whole planet, even "disturbing" it's rotation. Will future earthquakes wobble the earth in it's orbit or possibly even shift it's orbit a bit to effect the heating up of it and eventually creating the super climate implicated by Biblical prophets who fortell such things as plowmen overtaking the reapers, et al? Jesus, himself, implicated increase in earthquakes in his Olivet Discourse prophecy concerning future events leading up to his 2nd advent as he discussed this with his desciples. What do you think?

EVERY earthquake shakes the whole planet. please find yourself a geology textbook, and look up p and s waves, it's how we locate earthquakes... often from the otherside of the planet.
also, isaiah is operating off a faulty idea of the earth. it does not a foundation in the sense he means it.

Now we know your sort, when you say;
, isaiah is operating off a faulty idea of the earth Therefore we know you are not for the God of Abraham. And seem to fight for atheists. On the news I heard that "no scientist" seen this coming. Yet it seems the bible did. As Isaiah isn't the only book which speaks such truths. And so Buz is not taking this as an opportunity - but rather he is trying to make you see that times of woe are upon us - and it would be beneficial for people to come to the way the truth and the life. Ps. I believe Buz mentioned such events on earth in another topic, hence his talk about such natural calamities preceded this thread. I'd like to know what that means to freethinkers. Edit; I spelt opportunity wrong. This message has been edited by mike the wiz, 12-27-2004 09:13 AM

I agree. His opportunism is sickening.
And it's more offensive to me because it's some 4.500 lives of my fellow countrymen he's using just to prove he's 'right'. Besides, earthquakes have been around even before humans were around.

I am responding to the charges of opportunism. The burden of proof is on the claimant. I have now provided an explanation of Buz's motives.. I definitely think his aim and his intention, and his mission - is to bring people to Christ and show that the bible speaks accurately concerning prophecy, that blood isn't on his hands, as spoken of in the bible...And instead of defending the biblists Jar - once again you go against it, and favour the other sides hokum about Buz being opportunist. If that was true - then he wouldn't have partaken in that previous topic concerning the rise of natural disasters. His motives, are seen in those things that can be read. All I've done is weigh the logical probabilities to establish his most likely motive.
Also - attacking the person for opportunism is irrelevant and off-topic. As usual - you (forumers) put Buz on trial without actually reading what he is saying. This message has been edited by mike the wiz, 12-27-2004 10:39 AM

I definitely think his aim and his intention, and his mission - is to bring people to Christ Fine, but he will never do so by trotting out absurdities. There was an Earthquake. Earthquakes happen all the time. There is no evidence that there are more earthquakes now or bigger ones.
And instead of defending the biblists Jar - once again you go against it, and favour the other sides hokum about Buz being opportunist. I should defend nonsense? Just because a so called Biblist says something really stupid I should defend him? Aslan is not a Tame Lion

It is ludicrous to think that because there was an earthquake (a common occurrence) that a book that mentions earthquakes is true.
Maybe if am increase in the frequency and severity of seismic activity could be documented, you might have the beginnings of something to talk about. Can you show any such, Buz?

So you think what Jesus said - and Isaiah - is absurd?
Do you also ignore the fact that Buz has talked of natural calamities increasing - before this event? 1. Why should I think this is "rubbish"?Can you prove otherwise as to biblical prophecies seemingly coming to pass? 2. To all freethinkers; When coincidences increase, like with the Jews coming back to their land, and natural cisasters - as said in the bible, do you weigh these things up or ignore them because of your preconceptions?

Mike dear, I think one of the issues with Buz talking about natural disasters increasing before this last big earthquake is the fact that he was asked to document this increase and was unable to. There is no increase in the number of natural disasters, the only increase would be to number of lives affected due to population increases.

Don't sweat it, Mike.
Those who do not believe are like the sand of the sea. All things spiritual are absurd to them, it is meant to be. They are a comfort to me, for the prophecy of their presence is fulfilled with vigor. And I know you will join me to pray for rich blessings for those affected by this horror. I'm sure our country will be called upon to give.

Do you also ignore the fact that Buz has talked of natural calamities increasing - before this event? It has yet to be demonstrated that such an increase has occurred. Let Buz show that such has happened, if he can.
