Author | Topic: just a few reasons evolution cant be true | |||||||||||||||||||||||
supernovajm Inactive Member |
As a strong believer in Creation, I'd like to state a few reasons why evolution cant be true. and please note im young, , and my vocabulary is still growing, so use plain english please . but still feel free to post questions or comments. oh and another note, dont quote me on the numbers. i might be off a little.
1. although most evolutionists believe that the earth is overpopulated, if we were able to reproduce for millions of years at the rate we're going currently, there would be approx. 1,700 million people per square foot(of land). 2. Evolutioninst believe that "nothing" exploded and made "everything" 3. In all but a few cases, mutations have been of negative outcome. 4. DNA is abosolutely necessary for life, but only come FROM life! 5. "The probability of life arising by chance is the same probablility as throwing a six on a dice five million consecutive times."-Sir Fred Hoyle, a world leader in astronomy and mathematics before the British Academy of Science. 6. The second law of thermodynamics states the opposite of how evolutionists say we got here! 7. to illustrate the laws of physics are against evolution, take an airplane up to 5,000 feet and have 100,000 3x5 cards stacked neatly in it. the theory of evolution would assume that, given enough opportunity, those cards could be dropped out the window and spell the united states of america on the ground.

quote: Have you had the chance to actually read any of the literature providing support for the various elements of evolutionary theory? Or are you simply quoting from some anti-evolution website. Your arguments sound a lot like Hovind's.
quote: Okay, I won't quote you on the numbers as you requested. Instead, I'd be interested to know who you're referring to when you say "most evolutionists". Also, I'm curious as to how the number (even if a little off) was derived. What growth rate is used?
quote: Evolutionists don't actually say anything about cosmogenesis (I assume that's what you're referring to). Cosmologists and astrophysicists might. However, no one talks about something coming from nothing. You might find this tutorial on the Big Bang interesting.
quote: I don't suppose you'd care to share with us how you arrived at this conclusion? Mutations of any stripe can only be considered "negative" or beneficial if you also take into consideration the environmental context.
quote: What constitutes life being more of a continuum than a definable point, this statement is sort of meaningless. Are virii alive? If so, then RNA virii directly refute the claim. OTOH, if you're saying that DNA can't arise spontaneously - I agree. No one ever claimed it did.
quote: I think the quote may be missing the bit about "on Earth", since Hoyle was a died-in-the-wool panspermian (in fact, he invented the idea). However, the quote isn't too far out there. No one has ever said life arose "by chance". The probability of abiogenesis, however, doesn't effect evolution at all, so I'm unsure what your point is.
quote: Really? How? You might find the various discussions on 2LOT in this forum interesting.
quote: What does this have to do with either physics or evolution? Evolution certainly doesn't deal with chance or the random arrangement of filing cards. I assume this is some kind of spurious probability argument but I simply can't see the relevance of the analogy. Feel free to explain. [Before anyone accuses me of beating up on the unarmed, I feel I was very nice about the whole thing by assuming the poster is simply misunderstanding, rather than ignorantly preaching. We'll see.]

quote: I think that you should have torn him a new one since it is so stupid as to fall for this nonsense which has been refuted so many times that it is amazing that anyone, with even half a brain, would use them. Though, I doubt that we'll hear from him again since he is probably one of those post and run Creationists. He also is probably bragging to his buddies how he showed us "evilutionists" up as well with his "facts". [This message has been edited by nos482, 09-24-2002]

Quetzal, compliments on the post. I'm afraid I find it too frustrating to respond to persons who don't have a clue how much they don't know but have the absolute confidence of being right.

Nos: Yeah, but hitting a home run off something like that is tantamount to stomping on ants - sure it might be fun, but where's the satisfaction?
wj: Thanks. I was actually in a good mood when I wrote that. It was before I read wordwordsmith's most recent reply, however. At this moment I'm not sure how accommodating I'd be willing to be if I had to do it over again.

Drive-by preaching, the bane of intelligent discussion. So long, supernovajm. I hope your formal education will be more successful than your earlier system was.

--The problem with your little act is that you give no room for considering that you may be incorrect, nor have any desire to delve any deeper than a first thought blunder. Or maybe your just parroting some ill-informed source. If you do your own research and come to your own conclusions, your discussions would flow much more fluid, if of course you have any desire to exchange ideas. This is a forum you know...

Whether your correct or not, I'm afraid I can't come to respect your hostility all too much. You must first learn to crawl before you attempt to walk.
