Just curious about the political leanings of the members here. Is it stereotypical to say that most evo's are liberal while most creationists are conservative?

For your poll, put me down as "radical don't know."

It just occured to me that many that frequent this board are not of voting age and may not be interested in politics as of yet.

In that case, you had better put me down as "aging radical don't know", then

Hmmm....
Well in an ideal world where everyone is rational I`d be a rational anarchist....
http://www.ifi.uio.no/~thomas/po/rational-anarchism.html
But it isn`t so I`m not....
In TRW of politics I`m probably more of a (admitedly eclectic) mix of old labour and one nation toryism (pre thatcher conservative)....
Does that answer your question?

Seriously though what with these passages...
Leviticus 19:10
And thou shalt not glean thy vineyard, neither shalt thou gather every grape of thy vineyard; thou shalt leave them for the poor and stranger: I am the LORD your God.
(Whole Chapter: Leviticus 19 In context: Leviticus 19:9-11)
Exodus 23:11
But the seventh year thou shalt let it rest and lie still; that the poor of thy people may eat: and what they leave the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner thou shalt deal with thy vineyard, and with thy oliveyard.
(Whole Chapter: Exodus 23 In context: Exodus 23:10-12)
Exodus 22:25
If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury.
(Whole Chapter: Exodus 22 In context: Exodus 22:24-26)
Leviticus 25:35
And if thy brother be waxen poor, and fallen in decay with thee; then thou shalt relieve him: yea, though he be a stranger, or a sojourner; that he may live with thee.
(Whole Chapter: Leviticus 25 In context: Leviticus 25:34-36)
Deuteronomy 15:7
If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother:
(Whole Chapter: Deuteronomy 15 In context: Deuteronomy 15:6-8)
Deuteronomy 15:9
Beware that there be not a thought in thy wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou givest him nought; and he cry unto the LORD against thee, and it be sin unto thee.
(Whole Chapter: Deuteronomy 15 In context: Deuteronomy 15:8-10)
Esther 9:22
As the days wherein the Jews rested from their enemies, and the month which was turned unto them from sorrow to joy, and from mourning into a good day: that they should make them days of feasting and joy, and of sending portions one to another, and gifts to the poor.
(Whole Chapter: Esther 9 In context: Esther 9:21-23)
Psalm 82:3
Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.
(Whole Chapter: Psalm 82 In context: Psalm 82:2-4)
Proverbs 21:13
Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.
(Whole Chapter: Proverbs 21 In context: Proverbs 21:12-14)
Proverbs 28:27
He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.
(Whole Chapter: Proverbs 28 In context: Proverbs 28:26-28)
Matthew 19:21
Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
(Whole Chapter: Matthew 19 In context: Matthew 19:20-22)
Sorry I had to trawl through all of that before I found the one I was looking for...
quote:
Mark 12:42
And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.
(Whole Chapter: Mark 12 In context: Mark 12:41-43)
I would have thought that there was a strong case for christianity in its inception being an inherrantly left wing movement....

Right now, the libertarian party most reflects my views ( course, no party is going to meet all our views.) Course, talking politics is pointless without context. Any particular sociall or economic issues you would like to address?

Very, very generally, I suppose I would label myself politically progressive.
I actually do not toe a party line, as it were, on the issues. I consider each issue seperately.
I agree that without context, saying "I'm liberal" or "I'm conservative" doesn't really mean much. What particular issue would you like to discuss?

This is a reply to DS as well.
I guess the general role of government in society was at the root of my question. I like the libertarian viewpoint in that context while I don't agree with their entire platform.

Politcs has yet to show up in my case. For a while there it looked a bit more Republican to me but the war probably took from Bush any really lesser attention on C/E SRN news reported in the election. I knew I did not follow the GIS descion support of Wilkes-Barre was giving to Gore. And Clinton -- well my two illegits were a present under the bed. That's a lie.

ok... if you want to know...
I'm a Locke, Paine, Hobbes kinda guy. In short, government is a really really scary thing, though necessary. And we need to be very careful not to let it turn on us. In the US, I don't see any of the major parties doing a very good job of sticking to my principles; so I don't have a party affiliation.
Take care.

I'm a fiscal conservative and a social liberal. Though I'm not a member of any organized political party, I am not a Democrat.

I'm a liberal, right-wing, nazi, conservative, left-wing, socialist. The relevance of this escapes me.
Cheers
