Shouldn't this have gone into the A Few Favorite Links topic? Or maybe in an existing "humor" topic?
Unless you can come up with a good reason why not, this topic should be closed (and you should be hung up in AdminAsgara's dungeon for some of her "whips and chains" therapy). Adminnemooseus This message has been edited by Adminnemooseus, 06-10-2005 02:51 PM

I honestly thought of that moose, but I thought you might get angry if a heated debate started in that thread. So I did it this way. Want me to move the post there, then you can close this?

Your message 1 is nothing more than a bare link (with a bonus blank graphic). Short of exploring the cite (which I haven't bothered doing), there is no connection to the topic title. Your message has no content to debate.
Even "Coffee House" topics should meet "Proposed New Topics" type standards. Yours, as it currently is, is not even close. The non-admin mode is all on your side, socio-politically. There is a hint of a real topic there. We need more than a hint. Adminnemooseus New Members should start HERE to get an understanding of what makes great posts.

I guess you're right. I was thinking that this was one of those thousand-word pictures, but technically I see your point.
Howard Dean is being vilified by both republicans and democrats for stating the obvious. What the hell is wrong with stating the obvious? There was a time, during the Reagan and elder Bush years, when the republican party seemed to be reaching out to minorities with some success. Now, it seems that African-Americans are only around for photo-ops. Perhaps I should cut Bush some credit for appointing minorities to responsible positions within his administration, but the fact is that there are damned few elected black republicans anywhere. The numbers have gone down since y2k, not up. That fact deserves to be pointed out, and as I see it that's all Howard Dean was doing. Howard Dean is being vilified by both republicans and democrats for stating the obvious. Hell no! Republicans love Howard Dean! He's only stating what democrats think and are to afraid to say in public themseleves. The longer he stays as head, the better. This is why I want him to stay where he is. America is not ready for true liberal ideas. He won't stand a chance as a candidate because he is too liberal in some people's eyes. However, as the head of the Dem party, he can pass liberal policies through moderate demo officials.

quote: I'm not saying it's directly Bush's fault. If there's anything at all Bush deserves any credit for, I suppose it might be that he has appointed a number of minorities to important positions within his administration. But the party is doing something wrong if it wants to attract more African-Americans.

It's about time the Democrats grew some balls, spoke the truth, and stopped trying to fight the NeoCons and the Real Republicans for the honor of being the Religious Right's butt-boys.
You all can have Falwell, Robertson, and Dobson. You deserve to have to deal with those anti-American wackos.

Unfortunately, though, the overwhelming majority of Afro-Americans are religious conservatives and pro-republicans. I don't think the GOP has to do anything more than what they are doing now to attract the Afro-American portion of the country's population. In fact, they also have a large portion of minority groups as well.
But the party is doing something wrong if it wants to attract more African-Americans.

I dunno, Lam. I know quite a few African-Americans. I've been very deeply involved in a black business venture in Jackson and I've come to know both businessmen and politicians in the black community. I don't get a sense of religious conservatism at all. Some of them are against gay marriage, but not at the expense of accepting most of anything else that the republican party stands for.
One significant difference between black and white evangelical christians - at least here in the South - is their views on abortion. And that's Bush's and the GOP's fault how? Hey, nice strawman. How's that approval rating these days, again? Remember that Clinton had 55% approval as he was being impeached.

Growing balls might be necessary for some politicians, but Dean is putting his boys on the tee where Republicans can drive them down the fairway. Thanks Howard! What an idiot that guy is. Here are a few quotes from Howitzer Howard:
quote: Yes, Howie will make the next presidential election fun to watch. His comical, self destructive ranting is terrific for conservatives. If he keeps this up, he’ll be the best thing for the Republican party since Monica bent a knee. But I love to watch him. Does that make me a Deaniac? Yeeeeeeeeeagggggggghhhhhhhhhh!
