I wanna reccomend a specific movie, but it doesn't warrant its own thread. So let's go with a general movie reccomendation thread.But yeah, I saw Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow this past weekend. I can say without hyperbole that it kicks more ass than Jesus in a trans am, with Mr. T riding shotgun. It follows a tried and true movie formula that spoke as directly to the human soul in the golden age of cinema as it does today: giant robots stomping things, and Angelina Jolie in a jet pack.See it if you have any respect for yourself as a person whatsoever.

I saw it too, and it was hella great.Although I felt that the writing was an obstacle in a lot of places. With a really sharp, smart script, it would have blown me out of my seat. I mean, couldn't the villain's evil plot have been something besides the plot from Moonraker?

I saw it, and I'd give it a B.I liked the style of the movie a lot, but the characters left me a little flat, although I realize that this was kind of the point. I also thought the cinematography was a bit too hazy and fuzzy at times, and I think they should have shown Angelina WAY more, as she was the most interesting character.I also wished they had been a bit more cheezy and old-school; maybe using a real, wired-together skeleton falling to the ground instead of the CGI one when that scientist gets electrocuted.Overall, though, it was funny and great eye candy.

I saw Sky Captain this weekend.Cool Beans!I think working against a blue screen did impact the actors' performance, but I loved seeing how well they meshed the computer graphics with the real people. I would have prefered it not so fuzzy.But I give it a definite thumbs up.

I guess if I had wanted to see a guys ass balloon up from eating McDonalds, I'd just go to McDonalds, because then I could get some lunch, too. And they don't charge 9 bucks to get in.

About McDonalds? I'm honestly not that curious. I mean, what's to know? The food isn't healthy. They use cheap meat and stuff.I guess I'll save my documentary dollar for Farenheight 9/11, which I still haven't seen yet.

I guess I've yet to grow up. I enjoyed "Batman Begins." If this is an attempt to restart the "Batman" franchise (as I have read), it is a very nice opening.Dark and brooding (which tends to hook me), with some character development (guess which character?) and thus some depth, all help to make this fantasy work.Downsides: 1) the obligatory car chase (which was distracting); 2)a tenuous plot; 3) Katie Holmes.I don't get fanatical about actors, but this one did have a few favorites who did a fine job: Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Liam Neeson and Christian Bale. Cillian Murphy is also excellent. I won't mention Katie Holmes again (whoops).I'm keeping an open mind about "War of the Worlds," even if it does feature Tom Cruise.

I mostly agree with your assesment.Katie Holmes was not at all believeable as a district attourney in a corrupt city government. Too young, too happy, not anywhere bitter or hard enough.I didn't mind that they had a car chase, but it was roughly twice as long as it needed to be.The plot was fine.
