Ummm, not that I necessarily doubt the knowledge base of a lot of Americans - some embarassing percentage of whom can't find the US on a map of the world - you do realize that the CNNN site you linked to is a parody?

Even if it's a parody, it still gave me a good laugh
I remember reading a National Geographic article about the same kind of Americans; oblivious of the world beyond their borders. I bet my country is unknown by some percentage of them, even though Indonesia and the US is about the same size.

I would bet an extremely large percentage know nothing about your country (no offense intended - they don't know what they're missing).
OTOH, not to be nitpicky, but are you sure about the "about the same size" bit? IIRC, except for population (232 vs 284 million), land area is much smaller (1.9 vs 9.8 million km^2 - even subtracting Alaska, we're still talking something like 4.6 million km^2 - the US is HUGE).

I'd like to see a survey of how many americans actually think that video is genuine. Just a hunch, but I bet most will notice it's a parody. So I guess we can all laugh at your stupidity Andya Primanda?

Laugh on, sick nationalist!
On the contrary, I challenge you to refute it: go around a big city on the US with a video camera, and ask the same questions to a random sample of the people you encounter. After that, show us the video. If you can show otherwise then I will also laugh at my stupidity.
Go on, show the world that Americans know where the Berlin Wall is!

Those Indonesians.....LOL
I know, how about we go around to a big city in Indonesia and do the same thing. Then we can compare the answers we have gathered and see which country comes out on top. Then we can make a video of both and play them side by side!!!!!
Go on, show the world that Indonesians know where Berlin is!!

Well, it's a common view over here that all Americans have double chins, 100' waists and an IQ of 95 (i.e. Bush). We sympathise with the Canadians and we tease the Spanish about the Mexicans. And yet we drink your coke and watch your shows and make terrible impressions of your accents. I also resent the fact that you cannot tell the difference between British and Aussie accents. You all have some kind of fetish for all things Irish, you mistake Scottish for some kind of German dialect, is west virginia a state?
Your women wear strange, matted bulbs of peroxide bleached horse hair on their heads once they pass their menopauses, sometimes in the shape of a samurai helmet. You train at the gym faithfully and yet take the car to go 100m down the street to buy doughnuts. Your cars are like tanks and your tubs of ice cream are like small fridges. Plus you seem to be obsessed by that perversion of rounders game and you wear suits of armour during rugby to scare each other.
Yes, I'm finished now, and i won't allow y'all the pleasure of klnowing my nationality so that you can take the piss!

What makes you think Bush has such a high IQ?
Levels of ignorance in America are pretty high but even so Bush failed to get the most votes in the 2000 election. We just misestimated his ability to make it to the White House without winning. At least Bush will probably cure some of our ignorance. He has taught us that the problem with imports is that so many come from foreign countries. I was really glad to find that out as I never suspected that imports come from forgein countries. He recently promised to persecute terrorists to the full extent of the law. I read that only about 15% of Americans between the ages of 18 to 25 could indentify Iraq on a map. After Bush sends the other 85% over there we will mostly all know where it is.
You have probably all seen this website before but I think it's sort of relevant to the topic and the board.

And yes, West Virginia is a state. It's the only place in America that I have heard people speaking a version of English that is harder to understand that what you hear in the Scottish Highlands. I usually have no trouble telling Brits from Aussies in person. It's a bit harder in writing but if I had to guess I would probably say Brit. I do get a kick out of watching people on British TV shows trying to do an American accent. It usually turns out to be an amalgam of southern and midwestern but it never shounds like anything I have ever actually heard in use in the USA.
