... as long as they benefit from it.

These bastards want to cut social security and medicare while wanting to raise the retirement age to 67. Yet, they have no problem paying $30 a month for medical insurance for their families. The custodians who clean out their offices have to pay up to 6 times as much for a personal coverage.
Republicans make me sick...

How is medical insurance that is only available to high-ranking state officials anything like socialized medicine, which is available to everyone? Just because its subsidized?

I think Taz is pointing out the hypocracy of it all. Republicans consistently campaign against the very thing they take advantage of: federally subsidized health care.
What I find most ironic is that a lot of my dyed in the wool conservative friends don't even understand what socialized health care is. One guy I know is getting close to 65. I asked him if he is going to opt out of Medicare since it is socialized medicine. He game me a strange look and said, "Medicare isn't socialized medicine, I payed taxes to fund the system." He just didn't get it. In the mind of many Republicans, socialized medicine is conflated with welfare. They think it is a give away.

It IS 'socialized' medicine. The fact that it only covers high ranking officials, makes it UNFAIR socialized healthcare.

Thank you, CS, for showing us how biased you are. Would you like to write to publishers of dictionaries to change their definition of what socialized medicine is to exclude your rich republican politicians?

Well, they love socialized medicine the same way they love prostitutes, gay sex, and crystal meth. They love it so much they don't want to share it with anyone.

Socialist propaganda detracts from the purpose of this site. Perhaps you could take it elsewhere?

"Socialist propaganda" and "undeniable facts" are not actually synonyms, though to listen to conservatives you'd never know it.

Socialist propaganda!?
Perhas Taz is smearing some republicans, but he isent promoting socialism..
Scott pays only $30 per month for taxpayer-subsidized health insurance for himself and his family
He, and other high ranking officials, get socialized healthcare. He made a decision to get this insurance, which lower ranking people, like his janitor cant get.
Rick Scott is fighting against socialized healthcare, yet, that is what he has. By choice.

Stating facts is not "smearing".
Is Coyote denying that these republicans are using socialized healthcare by choice?

No Taz, thank you for showing us how biased you are.
Do you have no intention of debating at all? Do you just want to sling shit?
You staked a position by making claims in the OP. I asked two questions to better understand your position. And now you're telling me I'm a biased republican.
Do you really not know anything about debating or are you just trolling here?
Would you like to write to publishers of dictionaries to change their definition of what socialized medicine is to exclude your rich republican politicians?
I don't know, I'm asking here. Like anytime else, when I'm not sure what someone is talking about, I go to wikipedia....
quote:
Socialized medicine is a term used to describe a system for providing medical and hospital care for all at a nominal cost by means of government regulation of health services and subsidies derived from taxation.
So I'll ask again:
How is medical insurance that is only available to high-ranking state officials anything like socialized medicine, which is available to everyone?
Just because its subsidized?
