Can anyone convert this (huge) pdf to picture format (jpg or gif preferred)?
This USGS PDF topomap of Grand Canyon -- it shows the topography in great detail.
It is HUGE because the original is a chart sized document.
Enjoy

Well, do you have a file size or resolution in mind?
You most likely want PNG; better compression and more options than GIF, and loss-less so while the file might be bigger than a JPG there won't be any compression artifacts.

Oh, and you want it done from the EPS rather than the PDF, the PDF is made from the EPS so that's one more translation step.
And do you want the whole thing or just the white square? Oops, the white square is the artboard, that seems funny. Oh well, try these 24-bit color:

As much detail as possible, the whole thing -- email me or post it here?

A lot more detail is possible, the source is a vector file with no upper limit on resolution. At some point there's no more information in higher resolutions but where that point is, is not obvious.

goldilocks ...
too blurred too small - is that as big as Photobucket takes?
WOW Great detail -- better than the PDF
Waaay big and long to load
Something in between? Maybe ~2400 pixels wide?
Thanks

Re: goldilocks ...
Well, there aren't all that many colors in there. Looks like seven bits is enough. So let's try it at the high resolution with 7-bit color instead of 24 bit.

Re: goldilocks ...
A WMF is smaller yet, but it may not do what you want. It's also a vector format:
