I thought this was easier than "Volcanic Bag Drain" but a little harder than "V" or "Constantly Different". C'mon, have a go. BTW, can everyone see the H in number five? I'm worried that we might have different browsers or operating systems. It's a capital H, in what people usually (though erroneously) call Gothic script. Actually that style of writing is called Fraktur. The point is that it's German. Edited by Dr Adequate, : No reason given.

I'm worrying away at it :-) Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

Disguise are not the same as others. It is only by divine providence that we see what we see as we gaze to the gods. Orientwise, this would be a different puzzle. Edited by Modulous, : more under peek with clues

Having looked at your message, and then peeked at it for further clues ... I'm not convinced that you've got it. PM me?

nope, I thought I had something cunning - but I expect I've been confirming my bias. I'll have to leave it and come back with a clear mind.

Darn. Thought I had it, with the total number of clues, and clue 2, but I don't think the others fit that :-/ Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

The point is that it's German Is that to do with its pronunciation ? Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

I think you may both be on to something. Modulous, were you by any chance thinking of clue 10? But you have both underestimated the fiendish and devious nature of the puzzle. Edited by Dr Adequate, : No reason given.

It's that tough? OK, let me give you a hint. For clue 9, I might instead have written:
Ooooo

I have not even the faintest idea. These puzzles kick my butt. I was only able to answer some of the 'V' clues so far.
Under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is also in prison. Thoreau: Civil Disobedience (1846) History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people. As an alternate alternate clue for number 9, I might have written: Poule poule poule If that doesn't give it all away, I don't know what will.

If that doesn't give it all away, I don't know what will. Well, you could start by telling me what I'm looking at and what I'm supposed to do with it. I don't even know where to begin.

I can get clue 9, based on your alternate clues, but the others are still a problem. Is the theme musical, or more broadly seasonal ? Edited by vimesey, : No reason given. Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?
