EvC has endured throughout the past 17 years as a depository of the collective thoughts, beliefs, and opinions of its members. Our archives contain a lot of junk, spam, and useless argumentation, but they also contain some valid topics, ideas, and opinions by all of us. With that in mind, I am undertaking a project of my own design. I will reintroduce some of our more popular topics by presenting them in a format known as REMIX. Whenever a topic gets suggested, it will differentiate itself from the original topic by the word REMIX prefacing the topic title, as well as a mention of the original author. In order to accomplish this, I will be going through our archives and selecting topics that were popular and that were informative and entertaining. I will only recopy the topic starter post (and any relevant followup in the authors own words) and allow the discussion to begin afresh on these topics.
Of course, these topics will go through the usual PNT process before they are ultimately promoted, unless I add a synopsis post to the original topic. Comments?

Comments?
It would be interesting to compile an index by poster and forum category.

You might want to consider posting summary statement posts as well.
Should be interesting to see what crops up.

I'm still trying to work out the logistics and particulars. One challenge is that a topic may originally have a wek opening premise or post and later on, due to introductions by another member or further elaborations by the topic starter, it begins to take off. Another observation is that some topics, though apparently popular, were dominated by one or two members and are not necessarily interesting. I may need to do my homework before suggesting a topic, and a summary is a good idea.

Sounds difficult. How would i do that?

Try talking to Percy, we already have two ways of sorting posts -- one by latest posts and one by what topics a person has posted in, also by latest posts.
For instance Phat Topic Index shows the topics you have posted in and your last post on the thread and whether there are unanswered posts to you (your member ID is 1545).
So it could be simple to make a similar list with first posts and sort by mbrid.
Enjoy

Way to find topics started by individual member
1) Open a search window or tab by right clicking on "Search" in the top menu. Then, working down from the top:
2) Leave search terms blank.
3) Leave forum selection at default, or enter a specific forum.
4) Select "Thread Titles".
5) Enter member name of interest.
6) Click "Search"
This will give you one page of the most recent topics started by that member. Multiple pages is not an option, but by selecting specific forums at (3), you can get a lot of results, maybe even every topic ever started by the member.

Cool, but that only gets me to 12-05-2016 12:42 PM ... is the page according to your preference setting?
Doing it by forum does get back further.
Doing only Proposed New Topics gets me to 02-10-2014 2:51 PM
So the information is there and this could be used to make a page like the MBRID post page.
Thanks
