Would it be possible to change the {Message Index for (name)} page to give the number of unanswered posts (rather than just yes)?
Would it be possible to select to ignore some listings (someone gives information and no response is necessary)?
This is a useful tool to follow where you personally are in a debate, but it could be tweaked a bit ...?

Thanks for bringing this up RAZD, I was thinking about this same point, especially since some members of this forum have begun listing the number of replies awaiting of their opponents as some sort of condemnation of poor forum etiquette.
see: http://EvC Forum: Professionalism or Prejudice? -->EvC Forum: Professionalism or Prejudice?
It would be nice to have the option to 'clear' the replies awaiting listing for a given thread - the other issue being that if there is a discussion that has ended on good terms, but I didn't happen to post the last message, it will forever be listed - this prevents me from seeing if new replies have been made to any of my posts on that thread.
Thanks.

I don't think it's practical to have the "perfect" personal message index. Perhaps an alternative would be an index of the 20(?) most recent replies directed towards you. This would cover multiple replies in the same topic.
Certainly, not all replies call for replies in return. Please DON'T start replying just to clear the "replies waiting" list.
I receive the e-mail notifications for replies to both Adminnemooseus and minnemooseus. If you are not already doing such, you may wish to try it out - Go to your profile page to set it up. That way you have a complete (and as lasting as you wish) index to all replies to you.
Maybe it would be nice to also have e-mail notification of your own postings. That way you would have an index of those also.

e-mail not enough?
I do that, but erase them when I have replied to them. there is a delay in getting the messages as well, so the index page is best while on-line. the e-mail titles also do not refer to the threads or the specific messages, so they have to be read to search for the ones of interest.

Maybe you could save all, and file or flag them as "Replied To", "No Reply Needed" etc.

Usually the e-mails seem to be very prompt. If your online, the current personal index should do pretty good.

Here is the e-mail reply I just received:
Hello, Adminnemooseus!
You have just received a reply from RAZD to a message you posted at EvC Forum (http:///):
Forum: Suggestions and Questions
Thread: Message Index page tweaks
Your untitled message 3: http://EvC Forum: Message Index page tweaks -->EvC Forum: Message Index page tweaks
RAZD's reply 4 titled "e-mail not enough?": http://EvC Forum: Message Index page tweaks -->EvC Forum: Message Index page tweaks
Thank you for participating at EvC Forum!
I guess it would be nice if more info were in the subject line, but it sure seems that all the info you could want is in the message itself.

Re: e-mail not enough?
all the e-mail list shows is {EvC Forum: Reply Notification} for regular posts or {Notification: Reply to Your BB Topic} when it is a topic that you start. This last is only listed once on my e-mails and it refers to {Fresh Problems on the Ark} -- none yet for this topic.
perhaps if they said {EvC response #xx from YY on topic ZZ)?
