This question is for those who interpret the bible 100% literally.
How do you explain passages such as:
- exodus 12:12 "For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD."
- Numbers 33:4. "For the Egyptians buried all their firstborn, which the LORD had smitten among them: upon their gods also the LORD executed judgments"
More passages suggesting multiple gods here: How many gods are there?
If the bible is to be interpreted literally, does this not say that there are multiple gods?
I'm not interested in a full on debate about the accuracy and inerrancy of the bible. I simply want to know how literal interpreters of the bible hold the belief in a single god bearing in mind the passages above.

Timeframe
Welcome to EvC The Matt,
Thank you for proposing a new topic and adding to our diversity. Since you are new to EvC, I suggest that you carefully read the Forum Guidelines and familiarize yourself with the functions of EvC by using the Practice Makes Perfect Forum or posting in existing threads.
Since you're apparently coming from the skeptic angle, I suggest you really read what you are asking. I say that because you are quoting from the past and asking about the present.

Since you only want to know: ... how literal interpreters of the bible hold the belief in a single god bearing in mind the passages above, you've already got your answer since the books you are quoting from are over 2000 years old.
If you want to discuss the accuracy or inerrancy of these passages within their timeframe, I suggest you rework the OP and let me know when you are finished and I will review it again. As written, I am not inclined to promote this topic.
