Welcome to EvC The Matt,
Thank you for proposing a new topic and adding to our diversity. Since you are new to EvC, I suggest that you carefully read the
Forum Guidelines and familiarize yourself with the functions of EvC by using the
Practice Makes Perfect Forum or posting in existing threads.
Since you're apparently coming from the skeptic angle, I suggest you really read what you are asking. I say that because you are quoting from the past and asking about the present.
The Matt writes:
If the bible is to be interpreted literally, does this not say that there are multiple gods?
Since you only want to know:
... how literal interpreters of the bible hold the belief in a single god bearing in mind the passages above, you've already got your answer since the books you are quoting from are over 2000 years old.
If you want to discuss the accuracy or inerrancy of these passages within their timeframe, I suggest you rework the OP and let me know when you are finished and I will review it again. As written, I am not inclined to promote this topic.
