I thought this was kind of interesting:
Website Slow access killing business
It reports on a monkey that, after suffering a near-fatal illness, has started walking exclusively on it's hind legs.
I think it's a clear demonstration of how short a jump it is for primates to start walking bipedally.

One of the best solutions I heard was that the forest slowly changed to a bush, so more time had to be spend on the ground instead of in the trees.
When the trees get further and further apart, the legs get more important than the arms. Fossilised human ancestors remains and weather graphs should be able to confirm/disprove this.

This is heading off into something other than a short subjects.
If you want a longer one. Propose it.
