Hi all,

Quick question about limestones with animal tracks in. How? Obviously they were trundling through mud, & the mud subsequently became impregnated with CaCO3. But where did the calcium carbonte come from?

Here is the result of a quick google search on the Solenhofen Limestone. I don't know if it answers you questions, but it appears that they are calcareous muds to begin with.
