There is a multi-part examination of the series on Higgaion The comments are not positive.

the james cameron program on the "history" channel? i noticed a number of problems right away, and figured that if they were willing to distort these things, their other information was highly suspect. for instance, the date of the exodus is traditionally accepted to be about ~1250 bce, as they israelites build the cities of ramses and pithom (according to exodus 1), which were built under the pharoah ramses ii. and the fact that it made little to no mention that the hyksos literally conquered egypt, which makes them a poor candidate for a race of slaves. edit: link to all the posts: HeardWorld :: Orbit Edited by arachnophilia, : No reason given.

Yes. The program that Buzsaw is heavily relying on in his debate with Brian.

oh, dear god, really? i'm not reading that thread lol. i remember actively shouting at the screen at one point. by the time they got to serabit el-khadim (claiming it was new a discovery, even though i'd already seen it on the history channel once before), and pointed to the proto-semitic inscriptions, i was pretty angry. because i happened to know enough of the proto-semitic alef-bet to know that it didn't say what they were pretending it said.

If you rely on a popularist TV show in a debate you are totally fucked. When I see shows about my own area of research I literally scream at the telly.

We used to have a show here called "Reputations" or maybe "Secret lifes", something like that. Each of the shows was the same, they'd start with an amazing claim such as "Was Winston Churchil a drug addict child abuser?", you'd then have an hour of bemused/confused experts going "no there is no evidence at all for that - it's nonsense!" At the end, the show would have claimed to have debunked a rumour that never existed to start with! Edited by CK, : No reason given.
