The following is a response to sideline's post below which was deleted from the Isaiah 7 prophecy thread after sideline was told there's a Jesus geneology thread. I've not been able to locate that thread and do not intend to open one myself at this time.

Edit: Ok, I found the thread and will post this message over there. My apologies for the waste of bandwidth.

quote: Sideline:
I am curoius as to how vital the prophesy concerning jesus as having descended from david in a direct blood line was since that was not fulfilled.
Buzz response:
Check out the following link on the two geneologies of Jesus and Mary. I pretty much agree with it except that it may be possible that the "Joseph" at the end of Mary's geneology could mean that her father's name may have also been Joseph and it ended with him as women were not generally included in geneology lists in the Bible.

Hence, the prophetic curse upon Jeconiah stands inviolate. But, the legal adoption of Jesus by Joseph reckoned the legal rights of Joseph to Jesus as a son, not the biological curse. This is why we need two genealogies: one of Mary (the actually biological line according to prophecy), and the legal line through Joseph.

This is from the website you gave me

From the bible:

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with [child of the Holy Ghost.]

Luk 1:27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was [Joseph, of the house of David;] and the virgin's name [was] Mary.

Luk 2:4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David

The father of the child IS the Holy Ghost in black and white .I am certain that this is no problem since we will just twist the translation around to cover our ass and SLAP ourselves in the head to have thought we could think otherwise.
