KONY 2012

My grandson just told me about this video. It has had about 10 million hits in a couple of days. It is, if I and millions of others have not been duped, the internet at its finest. It is bringing people of all faiths and beliefs together in a fight against unbelievable cruelty and injustice.The world can become a better place.It is a 30 min video whose objective is to make famous a man whose lack of any sense of humanity has been the cause of unbelievable horrors for tens of thousands of our African neighbours. The idea is to make him famous so that he can be identified, captured and brought to justice but most importantly, so that he can be stopped. KONY 2012Here is a Canadian news article about the video. Kony is just a poor christian protecting himself from muslim oppressors, just ask Buz Message 162or noted drug addict Rush Limbaugh who i suspect Buz got the initial story from and then in true Buz fashion managed to mangle every "fact" in relaying the story.

Obviously Kony is anything but Christian. He invokes the name Christian in an attempt to legitimize what he is doing. This movement against him is as far as I know organized by secularists but it is something that all Christians, Muslims, atheists etc should support. (I'm pretty sure Jesus does. )In defence of Buz I have a hunch he just saw that the LRA had a Christian label attached to it and jumped to conclusions.I noticed that our PM is one of the political leaders they have targeted. I hope he responds.

I see absolutely no reason to claim that "Kony is anything but Christian". He is a member of a Christian organization and calls himself a Christian.He IS a good idea of what life would be like if the US ever became a Christian nation.

I realize that this is the Coffee House but I would prefer to keep it about encouraging people to do something positive as opposed to trying to score debating points.If anyone is interested in supporting this cause, here is a link to where the Kony 2012 kits are available.

shouldnt we be just as outraged though...if we ever became an Islamic nation? If we can't be Christian, (or they over there) it should be defacto secular.

We have no right to say anything like that for any other nation.

It does seem to me that this man is responsible for more deaths than Bin Laden. Shouldn't the west be just as concerned about justice in his case as they were for Bin Laden?Also, just because the organization is weaker it doesn't mean it couldn't be revived under Kony or someone else.

I am unsure of your point. Do you mean NOT concerned at all about justice or Kony? . . .

It is my opinion that the boogeyman, Bin Laden, was more useful alive for Bush Jr. to use against terrified and ignorant americans while invading Afghanistan to capture energy resources and establish hegemony in the area. I don't think it is a violation of Godwin's law to compare war criminals Bush Jr. and Hitler.Now, if Kony's environment had energy resources or strategic significance like Iran does, I am sure Obama would suddenly find him "threatening" too.

Africa aint our mess, talk to the British, the French, the Belgians, the Germans, the Portugese, and the Dutch about that shit.

Sure, I hope we nail the bastard. However, the film doesn't accurately portray the current situation. I'm a big fan of accurate information.

But Sudan and Uganda has greater proven oil and natural gas reserves than Afghanistan.And the US has NOT captured and controlled oil fields in either Afghanistan or Iraq.

Sure, I can't disagree with that but it appears to be close enough that something should be done, and it shouldn't be done on the basis of oil but just because it is the right thing to do.It seems to me that in one way the major issue here is how the internet can be used to get this type of message out to the world with the result that it empowers the average individual, (for better or for worse), in a way that has never been the case before. More than ever we are a global community and the African peasant is my brother.The US has sent 100 individuals over there to help. How many times could something like that be done for .1% of the cost of the war in Iraq with far more positive results.

I'm just saying that if it was important to have bin Laden answer for his crimes, then it should be just as important to see that Kony be made to answer for what he's done.
