I just thought I'd update, (with a Canadian twist), how I believe Jesus would have written this parable on this forum.
25 On one occasion Ringo stood up to test Jesus. Pastor, he asked, what must I do to inherit eternal life?
26 What is written in the Law? he replied. How do you read it?
27 Ringo answered, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’ ; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
28 You have answered correctly, Jesus replied. Do this and you will live.
29 But Ringo wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, And who is my neighbor?
30 In reply Jesus said: A man was going down from Regina to Moose Jaw, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead.
31 GDR happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side.
32 So too Phat, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.
33 But a Muslim, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him.
34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man in his Subaru, brought him to a Best Western and took care of him.
35 The next day he took out 300 dollars gave it to the manager. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’
36 Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?
37 Ringo replied, The one who had mercy on him. Jesus told him, Go and do likewise.
It can go anywhere including Coffee House. Whatever you like.

He has told you, O man, what is good ; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6:8

Have Mercy Miss. Percy
I think I may have passed him on the way to work.

Well I'm glad you were watching the road. You can't be too careful.

He has told you, O man, what is good ; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God.

Would you really pass by someone on the road like that?
I don't think I could.

Would You Stop?
If someone was hurt and it was clear that they were hurt and safe to approach them, I would at least call 9-11. I have passed by stranded motorists with a dead battery a few times as I am running late...but what I was half-jokingly referring to is the conversation I had earlier about passing by the homeless guys with their signs.
I won't simply give everyone money who has a sign, but again, if someone was hurt, I hope that I would stop or at least call for help for them.
The Bystander Effect

More On The Bystander Effect
In looking at the article on Wiki, The Bystander Effect I noticed that psychologists claim that one primary reason that people do not stop is known as Diffusion Of Responsibility.
Darley and Latan determined that the degree of responsibility a bystander feels is dependent on three things:
Whether or not they feel the person is deserving of help
The competence of the bystander
The relationship between the bystander and the victim
Forms of Assistance: There are two categories of assistance as defined by Latan and Darley:
Direct intervention: directly assisting the victim
Detour intervention. Detour intervention refers to reporting an emergency to the authorities (i.e. the police, fire department)
The research shows that if lots of traffic is going by, an individual will simply wait for someone else to help the victim.
And in the case of homeless guys with signs, all I really see is a hustle. Perhaps God will judge me harshly for that...I dunno.

Of course not. It's a parable.
The point is that the Samaritans were despised by the Jews at that time. I just adjusted the parable to make make it say what I believe Jesus would say to us today.

He has told you, O man, what is good ; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God.

You might miss the curve at Belle Plaine.
(For the uninitiated, there's a running joke that there is only one curve between Regina and Moose Jaw. Actually, it's not a joke.)
