A member and I were chatting one lonely cold night (last night to be precise), and a thought, random though it was, popped into my head.
After considering different aspects of Scripture, I have come to the conclusion that God suffers from bipolar manic-depressive disorder (manic depression).
Using the
Questionare for Bipolar0 = Not at all 1 = Just a little 2 = Somewhat
3 = Moderately 4 = Quite a lot 5 = Very much
==================================================================================
1. At times I am much more talkative or speak much faster than usual.
0 1 2 3 4 5 Look at all the people God used to talk to. He now no longer talks to them... mood swings maybe?
2. There have been times when I was much more active or did many more
things than usual.
0 1 2 3 4 5 Haven't seen Him create the universe any time lately... seems like someone's taking a break...
3. I get into moods where I feel very speeded up or irritable.
0 1 2 3 4 5 The Fall, the Flood, the Tower of Babel, Exodus, etc.
4. There have been times when I have felt both high (elated) and low
(depressed) at the same time.
0 1 2 3 4 5 Seeing Noah's family safely off the ark, yet sad to have brought such death (a promise He made then and there).
5. At times I have been much more interested in sex than usual.
0 1 2 3 4 5 Well I would hope not!
6. My self-confidence ranges from great self-doubt to equally great
overconfidence.
0 1 2 3 4 5 Why did I create such scum? I am the Father of Creation!
7. There have been GREAT variations in the quantity or quality of my work.
0 1 2 3 4 5 Mold. Humans.
8. For no apparent reason I sometimes have been VERY angry or hostile.
0 1 2 3 4 5 A tower that would never reach Heaven anyway... doesn't seem like a good reason to me.
9. I have periods of mental dullness and other periods of very creative thinking.
0 1 2 3 4 5 The Universe sat void for who knows how long before He finally got around to making it...
10. At times I am greatly interested in being with people and at other times
I just want to be left alone with my thoughts.
0 1 2 3 4 5 I love people... so much! I like all the people. BAD PEOPLE! Hate people... people GO AWAY! Flood waters destroy them! Leave me to my being!
11. I have had periods of great optimism and other periods of equally great
pessimism.
0 1 2 3 4 5
12. I have had periods of tearfulness and crying and other times when I laugh
and joke excessively.
0 1 2 3 4 5 Crucifiction. Holocaust.
Based on the above set of criteria, it is easy to see how God exhibits clearly bipolar behaviour. His inexplicable changes in mood from loving humans to hating them can only be understood assuming a bipolar background.
The following news article should help explain it:
Purchasing Bewilderment
A quote from that article reads:
"The Book of Job... marks the best example of His condition. The book begins with the bleak lamentations of Job and ends with a full-blown manic episode by God, complete with such classic bipolar symptoms as the illusion of omnipotence and delusions of grandeur."
Please any input would be most appreciated on this, as I myself am still trying to wrap my head around the insane idea of God suffering from manic depression.
(Remember how you wanted me to post, Phat? Well, guess what?
