No.
I moved overseas. I was hoping to mention this coming event before I had to drop off the group for a while, unfortunately many things came up before and after the move which kept me too busy with regular living to write messages here.
Also unfortunate (for me anyway) I have yet to get a stable internet connection. This is only my second visit to EvC since my move, the first being rather short because I had to pay per minute for the connection. Time constraints kept me from writing.
In fact, even at this point I am not sure when my next visit, or post, will be. I guess this was pretty good timing on my part or I may not have even seen your post.
FYI, Me and my gf are quite disease free and would not have even come close to being affected by that tragedy. Unfortunately for those involved, they took quite a few risks, more than we would be willing to take. Especially unprotected anal (and in this case double anal) sex, and compunding that issue without appropriate testing (for drake after his visit to Brazil), was beyond extreme risk behavior. This is not to say they deserved it or something, just recognizing that they were pushing the envelope.
I find it intriguing that many people are getting all hyped up about testing for porn movies and perhaps shutting down the porn industry because of this. Porn is not the major center for the spread of HIV. As this case shows, its entrance and spread within that community is minimized to a much greater degree than in the "real world".
If only people were as concerned about its spread off of porn shoots, taking it just as seriously as they are with the porn industry (where testing allows them to actually see the spread), maybe we could slow the spread... if not end the spread... of HIV.
Just in case anyone is interested... kind of a similar topic... I am totally supportive of HIV testing at bathhouses. It is something which has also come up in california recently. I have no understanding why anyone who considers themselves pro sex or pro human rights, would feel this hinders their freedom or is against their sexuality.
Decided to throw that in because I might not be back for a while.
Anyway, so long for now from somewhere that is NOT Bush's corruption of what used to be the wonderful US of A. As a hint, it is somewhere where the general public has no problems with evolution or sex (much less having a bare nipple cripple their tv and radio industry). Heheheh.

Holmes, I am glad to hear that you and your girlfriend are safe and healthy. I was hoping nothing bad had happened to you or anyone you were close to.
Lemme guess, you have moved either to the UK or to France.

bier bier bier
I'm not within "drinking distance" of Munich, however I might head that way for an Oktoberfest. Do you hang out at any quaint bier and worst festivals around that time?

Thanks for the best wishes.
As far as your guess goes, while I love British accents I would rather live in the US than the UK.
France is a pretty good guess and we might end up there at some point (oh how I wish I was there for Cannes this year), but right now I don't think the French would have us (not good enough with the parlez-vous).
But everyone is pretty close regarding our position. We're somewhere in the benelux-scandinavian crescent. Heheheh.

Re: bier bier bier hier hier hier
Hi holmes,
I went to Oktoberfest once last year..should be around there this season as well. It is a nice (expensive) blast. We can have a few mass (the 1 L glass not the religious service) bier together.
Cheers, M

I'll be there with brats on!
Well I guess I'll make my whereabouts a little better known. I am in one of the few European nations that has taken such a swerve to the right (over the last three years) that it has squandered all of its history, to try and become US-light. It is a mistortune of fate that I had to come to this particular nation at this particular time.
The nation has become so xenophobic that they are proud of the numbers of people they will deport, and if not deport then simply not accept as citizens.
It appears they will probably not be accepting me, and maybe I'll even get deported back to the States. If it appears this will be the case. maybe we'll duck over to France so that I can stay in Europe at least... thus making schraf retroactively correct.
Anyway, IF I am still in Europe at the time, I will definitely try and make it to Munich. Though you'll have to promise not to force me to try sauerkraut.

Well, lets see..that does not narrow things down very far. Denmark is one example that fits well. But Austria, Switzerland, and even Italy have either nationally or in important regions swung this far to the right. Germany is fairly xenophobic...so are parts of France though neither has a hard right government or brags about deporting people. The Netherlands toyed with an ultra-right government but the leader of the movement was killed and the movement has fizzled. Poland is swerving to the left not the right. Slovakia almost elected a nationalist....so you could be almost anywhere in Europe

Let's definitely meet...but no promises about the sauerkraut.

Re: I'll be there with brats on!
Well, lets see..that does not narrow things down very far.
Given your location I should assume you'll have a "1-1" chance of guessing where I am with the hints in this post... indeed within thise very sentence.
You made an error in your assumption about a certain nation as there is always more than one rightist party in any parlaimentary style government.
The leader of the party that eventually made it to power survived a challenge when his uncompromising stances kept his party from reaching a real coalition. In a new election a former liberal party joined up to the right party in a "deal with the devil" and got burned.
He is so right leaning that he just won an award for merging religion with politics and is concerned with ending "tolerance" in his nation (he stated this very thing).
Of late, they are not only making deportation centers to house the tens of thousands of deportees they are anxious to get rid of, but also have a plan to give immigrants badges to wear so that everyone can know how well integrated they are. I'm betting that the "fully integrated" badge will include a swastika.
Then again I suppose immigrants should feel lucky as this nation's courts have ruled that it is fine to kill pets snuck into its main airport... by sticking them into shredders ala Fargo.
The party leader can be seen licking Bush's ass, and his lackies licking the asses of Bush's lackies quite a bit these days. In fact, after Blair started coming apart as a strong partner of Bush, this nation's leader stepped into the position. I suppose he shares it with Berlusconi, but he is giving that Musolini wannabe a run for his money.
After all Bush and he are publically credited as being "brothers in Christ", and his "norms and values" campaign has brought the culture war to reality in this nation. This is ironic as I was happy to leave the US to avoid the culture war there.
As it turns out I've been told that the new immigration policies which threatened to boot me out pretty soon do not apply to me since I am a clean cut American. I am not joking that is actually what I was told today. They said the laws are for other types of immigrants.
I'm wondering if I would have been told the same thing if my skin was darker, or I spoke with a less Chicago accent, even if I was from the US.
Anyway, chances are pretty high at this point that I will be here in Oktober, so I'll definitely get back to you around that time so we can drink and eat like good Europeans. And my gf says she might like to tag along as well, if that's okay with you.

Re: I'll be there with brats on!
Hmmm, I do watch the news (though admittedly it is VERY German centric i.e. only things that happen in Germany are worth reporting..ok I'm exaggerating but the news is not great). So nothing like what you are describing has made its way to me excluding Berlusconi, Blair, and formerly Aznar all of whome are leaders of countries that don't fit the bill. the only reports about the Netherlands I hear have to do with soccer so maybe there. Still the likliest candidate I can think of is Denmark. They shifted way to the right, completely decimated their immigration policy, brought up religion the entire time during their campaign. The only missing factor is that I have not seen their government kissing Bush's ass...mostly I see Berlusconi and Blair competing for that real estate.

That would be very cool. Look forward to seeing you both...I would be more scared of the tourists in cheap lederhosen than of the saurkraut though.

Tell me it ain't so! Denmark was on my list of places to go if things failed here. I used to live there and it was soooooooo cool. I have to say it is amazing how fast nation's can devolve in five years.
Anyhow you must not be fully integrated into German culture or you certainly would have picked up on the hint in the first sentence of my last post. I mean I gave you a pretty good shot at the goal with my "1-1" reference, but unlike one good german yesterday you seem to have missed it.
I must admit perhaps my view of how often this nation's leader is viewed kissing W's ass is skewed by local programming. Not that it is totally out of CNN's view though and that goes across Europe.
I would be more scared of the tourists in cheap lederhosen than of the saurkraut though.
That nixes my trip to the lederhosen tent at the local square.

Could the tourists be any worse than the dogs? Perhaps if I see any of THAT I'll be ready for some saurkraut.
