ATTN PERCY - Problem w/ Misc. forum

I have just attempted to post to an older Misc. forum topic - I get a "Can't post message because forum does not exist" type message.The topic I'm trying to post to is the "Peer review under scrutiny" topic, at http://EvC Forum: Peer review under scrutiny -->EvC Forum: Peer review under scrutinyEven after I try reloading the topic, the forum name remains listed as "Miscellaneous Topics", not the remamed version "Miscellaneous Topics in Creation/Evolution".Fixing this problem is probably within my admin powers, but not within my admin knowledge.Anyone else have this problem happen to them?Adminnemooseus

While I didn't have quite your problem with that forum, I did have something screwy happen. I hit reply to a message of Ned's in Misc. and my reply ended up as a reply to a different message of Ned's in a different forum. I was able to repost to the correct forum later.------------------

duh...sorry bout that, wasn't even thinking.I was attempting to reply to http://EvC Forum: Turkana Boy (for MtW), the "Turkana Boy (for MtW)" thread in the Misc. forum.The message ended up in "How about teaching evolution at Sunday school?" http://EvC Forum: How about teaching evolution at Sunday school? in the Education and Creation/Evolution forum.At the time I attributed it to operator error and it might have been. I was in a hurry at the time. But I do recall hitting the reply to this message button under the post I was replying to.------------------

I got, repeatedly: When trying to post to Sonics new thread in Evolution.

That was the same message I was getting, when I tried to post to the "Misc." topic.I just re-opened the Sonic "Evolution" topic, and did a test post. Worked OK for me.I may get rid of those quotation marks anyhow.Who knows,

Ah heck, I just did an "Update Threads" for the Misc. forum - that seems to have fixed the problem.I'm assuming for now that the "Evolution" forum problem was just a random glitch.Adminnemooseus

Looks like I was right on top of things, as usual! The "update threads" approach was the right fix. I should have done that immediately after changing the name, and I should update the software to automatically update the threads after a name change.You may be right that the problem in the Evolution forum was a glitch, let's keep a half-open eye on it. If anyone experiences a similar problem while attempting to post then let us know in this thread.--Percy
