This post is for my own personal record as much as anything.
He was diagnosed hyperthyroid in 2011 and chronic kidney failure some years later. He had a good run and died on his own in a reasonably comfortable manner, while at the vet clinic. As good of an ending as I could have hoped for. Probably chalk it up to heart failure. For me, I'm calling it a happy-sad day. Moose Added by edit - I've once again made my avatar (for now) one that includes Marvin - He's on the far right. That photo was from back in 2015, so he would have been 16 then. The far left (back) is Munchkin, currently 10 years. In the middle is Teddy. currently 13 years. To answer the Phat question from the next message, now down to 4 cats. How many cats do you now have, Moose?
Chance as a real force is a myth. It has no basis in reality and no place in scientific inquiry. For science and philosophy to continue to advance in knowledge, chance must be demythologized once and for all. —RC Sproul "A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes." —Mark Twain " ~"If that's not sufficient for you go soak your head."~Faith You can "get answers" by watching the ducks. I have never bought into the Abbott and Costello "Whose on First" routine and being anything but stupid. At least the Lucy routine makes sense.
The "Pearls Before Swine" comic had a better routine, starting with the "Whose drummer was Keith Moon".
Not the one I used, but a source page for the above. Speaking of sense, there's science, another (sort of) violation of the "i after e, except after c" rule. I guess science gets a pass since the "i" and "e" are in separate syllables. Moose

No I hadn't, what is it? quote: This video from LangFocus, Why Is English Spelling So Damn Weird?!, might hold some clues:
The rest of that episode of "I Love Lucy" contains classic scenes. Such as Lucy having Ricky read a bedtime story out loud and it contains words with "-ough" which is pronounced differently every time. Or the tutor's exercise of pronouncing English vowels in the typically weird English way and when it comes to Ricky's turn he pronounces them in the normal Spanish manner: "Where did you learn that?" "Havana, Cuba. What's your excuse?"

I have two dogs and two cats; all whom are beloved equally. The cats have ruled the roost the majority of the time. The dogs are fairly new editions. My first dog, Bear, has literally grown up with the cats as a puppy and considers them family. My newest dog, which is an American Staffordshire (pitbull), sees movement and instinctively wants to chase. Sweetest, most loving dog imaginable... unless you're viewed as an outsider... which the cats currently are (Pixie and Biscuit).
Its sucked keeping the animals separate but very necessary at the moment. We have been attempting to train this dog. We employed the help of a trainer and its helped a lot but not solved it completely. My youngest cat, Biscuit, recently has learned how to open doors on her own. She's too damn smart for her own good... She's a Tortie and I hear they are above average in intelligence. There was an incident tonight where Hailey very clearly attempted to tear Biscuit to shreds. Bear jumped in being a good sister to Biscuit. Hailey just doesn't understand in the heat of the moment. Her prey drive is incredibly strong and she tunes out the "no's!" Thankfully I was able to catch the dog and the cat was safe, minus a few tufts of hair. But this is really not good and we can't live this way forever. The dog is incredibly smart, very teachable and really wants to please us. She just gets in the heat of the moment -- instinct is a son-of-a-bitch. Anyone had any experience with a dog with a really high prey drive that eventually learned that cats are our friends too? This dog, in no uncertain terms, HAS to learn this once and for all. No exceptions. And I believe she can after countless repetitions. "Reason obeys itself; and ignorance submits to whatever is dictated to it" -- Thomas Paine |

A couple of months ago I made an appointment for tomorrow (Wednesday), to get my cat Teddy's teeth cleaned.
Today the ruling came down from the state - No elective veterinary care to be done. My cat's teeth are going to fall out - Curse you Covid-19. Moose Added by edit - I'm sure this is done to minimize human contacts, but at this point the cat is already at the clinic, and had the dental work been done, I would be picking him up well after business hours Wednesday night (I'm the night cleaning person there). As it is, I will be picking him up well before business hours tonight. Edited by Minnemooseus, : Added by edit.
