Re: Petition!
"The Senate must oppose the "nuclear option" to eliminate the filibuster, and preserve the checks and balances that have kept our courts fair and independent for centuries."
ROFL!! Anyone with a basic knowledge of civics knows that the filibuster has NOTHING TO DO with checks and balances. Checks and balances has to do with each branch checking on the other 2 branches (except of course for the judicairy, who is above being checked and balanced and don't you dare excercise that constitutional right Congress!). Ya'll are reaching. /southern drawl off
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!" Isaiah 6:8

Re: What about this new agreement?
Just an update. As of 2pm Eastern, Senator Frist hasn't approved the deal and according to his office, he still wants all of the nominees to get an up or down vote. This message has been edited by Tal, 05-24-2005 02:05 PM

Re: Blatant misrepresentation of Democratic ideals
First of all, it is the Republicans NOT the Democrats, who are continously eroding our 'freedoms'. What freedoms have you, personally, lost since 911?

Re: Blatant misrepresentation of Democratic ideals
So you haven't lost any freedoms. Your pride in the Intelligence community, if there ever was any, is a bit hurt though.

Re: Rights lost since 9/11
You can now be searched and seized without jurisdiction. You can now be held without trial. Have you been searched and seized without jurisdiction or held without trial?

Re: Republican compromise
On 60 minutes a noted Televangelist, Jerry Falwell, openly discussed his and his friends' control of White House policy. I couldn't believe that never made headlines. 60 minutes....would that be Dan Rather and cBS?
