Re: fast foods = chemicals & processed
Read the whole thread.
I am definitely an advocate of eating real food as opposed to processed.

Re: for Mr. Jack and Schraf about the heart
Schraf,
Thank you. Seems like one study confirms my hunch.

Off topic - but it could save a life!
Well, monosodium chlorinate (table salt) should be used only in moderation, or so I've heard.
Sodium Chlorate (NaClO3 - can't do subscripts!) shouldn't be used in food at all unless you are planning on killing someone - it is a herbicide
Sodium Chloride (NaCl) is table salt.

Oops! Wrong Planet

Re: Off topic - but it could save a life!
I should have put monosodium chlorinate in quotes, as I was borrowing the term from some source that Scraf quoted...the source implied that table salt would sound scary, too, if it had a name like "monosodium chlorinate" (trying to make it sound like MSG, apparently)...however, I am familiar with the real chemical name of table salt, i.e., "sodium chloride." That's about the extent of my knowledge of chemistry, but I do know at least that. -ide, -ose, -ol, -ate, -ite ... all have different meanings but I forget most of them...I think the -ose's are sugars.

ps: subscripts are easy, just put the and tags around whatever you wish to subscript. Replace "sub" with "sup" and you get superscripts, IIRC. However, it is so inconvenient for me, I usually just type it out as you have done.

Subscripts
Here's how you do subscripts:
NaClO3
Click on the 'Peek' button to see how it's done.
Here's an example of superscripts: 9.8 m/s2
Added by edit: sorry Literalist, I only saw your explanation when I had already posted mine.

Re: Subscripts
No problem, Para.
I had to bother to remember and/or look up escape characters...it's also neat idea to suggest people just use the "peek" button.

To Mangy Tiger et al:
It is important to note that the "<" and ">" brackets must be used...NOT the "[" and "]" brackets.
